After failing to qualify for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Malta are looking toward the 2016 contest in Stockholm, hoping to return to the final after Amber closely missed out on one of the 10 finalist places this year.
The Maltese broadcaster will be accepting songs on the 29th and 30th of October, all songs will be judged by a panel and the twenty songs deemed to be the best will be selected to take part in the semi-final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in January, where the twenty will be whittled down to fourteen,
The rules state that the lead artist must have Maltese citizenship but the songwriters may be from anywhere. When entering a song for MESC 2016 the singers must also include another song they have performed, this could be a song of their own or a cover.
The song announcements in November are expected to be made on Xarabank as in previous years.
