The national broadcaster has chosen Eleni Foureira as the representative for Cyprus in Lisbon according to INFE Greece, the leading source of Eurovision news for Greece and Cyprus.
The singer, who has previously tried to represent her home nation of Greece, will be internally selected by Cypriot broadcaster RIK following an agreement made between the performer and the channel.
Eleni Foureira will sing Fuego in Lisbon, with the entry composed by Alex Papaconstantinou.
She began her career in 2007 as a member of the girl group Mystique, before branching out on a solo career in 2009. In 2010 she attempted to represent Greece in the competition with a duet with Manos Pyrovolakis called “Kivotos tou Noe”, but was not chosen. The Greek broadcaster ERT rejected her proposal in 2016 in favour of Argo’s “Utopian Land”.
