Ahead of this weekend’s French selection for Eurovision 2021, we wanted to get to know the artists a little better, and learn what drove them to participate in the competition.

First up, we spoke briefly to Juliette Moraine, who is competing to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with her song “Pourvu qu’on m’aime”. We asked her a few questions about her song, what we can expect from her performance and what her favourite Eurovision songs are!

Hi Juliette! Thank you for taking the time to speak to us! How are you preparing yourself for the big day, and can you give us some details about your performance?

So, I became a nun haha! I go to bed early and wake up early every day. I eat well, I play sports, I meditate… I feel like I’m playing in the Olympics. And then I repeat it for the live show. I’m working on my voice, my breathing and the interpretation. I can just tell you that my performance will be simple and elegant.

What led you to participate in France’s selection for Eurovision?

I sent my song over to see if it was worth anything. I didn’t think for a second that it would be selected. So I’ll say it was the lucky star that brought me here!

What message do you want to share with ‘Pourvu Qu’on M’aime’?

With “Pourvu Qu’on M’Aime“, I want to talk about love. Love for yourself. I realized that seeking approval and love from others made me miserable, so now I try every day to love myself a little more and not expect from others.

And I wish everyone could do that too. And then it’s also a message of hope. I’m a great romantic, I believe in true love and I know that one day someone will love me for who I am and not for what I can do as long as he loves me.

What is your favorite Eurovision song? What about your favorite French Eurovision song?

My favorite song is “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence (Netherlands 2019), and in French: “Ne partez pas sans moi” by Céline Dion, even though she didn’t represent France… 🤓

Thank you for your time Juliette. Best of luck in C’est vous qui décidez!

Juliette Moraine will take part in this weekend’s Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez with the song “Pourvu qu’on m’aime“, hoping to represent France in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.
