Fans of Junior Eurovision were left puzzled on Sunday afternoon during the 2020 contest, as multiple shots of the Georgian entrant Sandra Gadelia alone in the greenroom were shown throughout the course of the show. Georgia’s Eurovision team have now clarified the unfortunate reason for this.

As many governments have done, Sandra Gadelia was following isolation guidelines due to COVID-19, as she had come into contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus.

Asa result, the scenes of jubilation and the shared moment with multiple members of delegates and dancers were not afforded to Sandra during Junior Eurovision 2020.

The news was confirmed in a Facebook post this afternoon by the Georgian delegation. They also stressed that they were not wishing to publish this information before the show took place.

Sandra ultimately had reason to be cheerful, however, as her performance had done enough to earn a top half finish for Georgia as “You Are Not Alone” finished 6th – a song title more appropriate than ever with this news.
