Is it typical for Melodifestivalen to have quite a lot of returning artists, songwriters and music producers? I'm only counting from 2019, in which 16/28 acts have taken part for at least once.

Unfortunately yes, as I have stressed many times (also in this thread) MF basically is a bubble and there's lots of cronyism and nepotism behind the scenes, I would say it's a quite bad reflection of how the actual Swedish music scene looks like but it seems like there is no will to change it so xshrug

And that puts me into concern: they received nearly 2000 submissions but half of the slots would've been reserved for big names and returnees, which gives slim chances for debutants to surface (even if they probably have a great song).

Ohh, returnees. Well, I hope there isn't mz among those because he is got wedding in Croatia this September, so I doubt he will expand costs of wedding to do mf. Even though its just a matter of time until we see him for millionth time on esc because he admitted he is obsessed with esc and plans to return not only as interval act, but also as competitor with real song. :?:(

Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
P4 Nästa might as well be called Next To Be Eliminated. No matter the language or the quality (Red, Somebody Wants, Titta vi flyger, Bound To Fall), the songs inevitably can't get enough votes to advance.

Always the same names... :? who will probably share the same three composers we see every year. That's all very exciting!

I'm amazed they still receive so many submissions, people should not bother given how newbies have so little room in this NF.

Most Newbies are bad anyway. I would rather see see good established Singers.

We could have some other established artists in those 2000 submissions and the lineup stayed packed with returnees. I haven't seen if that's a cultural thing about MF, but it still bugs me, given the amount of submission they received.

I don't know any of these people? Is that a good choice?

I would like to see Melodifestivalen become more daring again. More contemporary productions, more experimental stuff... Last two years' editions dragged on a bit (even though I did like the results and a couple of tracks).

Lina Hedlund was part of Alcazar and made the Melfest final this year with "Victorious"

Lina Hedlund was part of Alcazar and made the Melfest final this year with "Victorious"

Starting with "Stay the Night" (2009) until "Blame It on the Disco" in 2014.
Before joining Alcazar Lina first participated in 2002 with her sister Hanna and the following year after as solo.

Lina Hedlund was the One who voted upside down this Year (Austria First, Netherlands Last), for those who already forgot.

OMG! I know her!
Well! "Victorious" was tragic and her voting upside down is definitely not iconic. Don't know if it's a good choice to let her host the anniversary edition of Melodifestivalen xD
