I hope they won't cut out the "Namaste" and instrumental part for the Eurovision version :)

Did I wrote I would not hype this song just a few minutes ago? Fuck it, I just listened to it again and I totally get the hype :oops::mrgreen: (I just can't resist) :12:

Every Swede would've been called arrogant for a statement like that.
Sometimes the double standards in the Eurovision fandom are beyond ridiculous.

It might be ridiculous to you.
Just to let you know that i'm not an ESC childish fan and don't have a double standart
I know that is a show and should be consider like that.
Till my country Italy came back and took things seriously, we have sent 7 artists with completly different styles
Raphel Gualazzi- jazz
Nina Zili- soul/ contemporary R&B
Marco Mengoni- italian pop
Emma-rock
Il Volo- pop-opera
Francesca Michielin-indieita
Francesco Gabbani- elettro-pop
You might not like the songs, and I can understand, but it is very clear that Italy is making a very good affort to offer a wider panorama of italian music with the best young singers/artists
About Sweden. Quality? Yes. Orginality, not at all. They have brought ESC taylored songs, every swedish song could be norwegian, danish, icelandic, from azerbaijan.
For me this is not originality.

I have a feeling that Italy will be the jury victim yet again like in 2015. I can already foresee juries backing Sweden and Australia by far.

Also last year the fan favourite (Russia) was voted down on purpose, in order to pass the trophy to Australia, which awkwardly failed.

Eurovision has a certain fraudulent stench already and this national selection season makes me already feel uneasy about what's ahead.

you picked the only part which will 100% stay, it's the climax of the song - how could they remove it? :D Namasté Alè is the apex!

I think I found out where they'll cut and why, but let's wait. It should be quite simple anyway - and I don't even think they'll cut out the Chanel part. I think they'll just replace the word...

Marco had more of a classic ballad, it's not even pop - his pop/dance part comes with songs like Non me ne accorgo or Io ti aspetto...

This is the fault of the countries that send such controversial, non-votable songs. As I said before, it's our fault that we didn't send Malika to ESC 2015. And if we lose this year, it will serve us right for not sending Fiorella Mannoia.

Both 2015 and 2017 Italy was and is perfect. It just might not be worthy enough for the EBU.

Of course they aren't worthy, in a contest where there are more than 40 countries with mostly strong and competitive songs, fancraps like "Grande amore" are doomed to fail.

:geek:

In the best case there are 5 to 8 strong and competitive songs in a sea of bland and bleak.

I really don't think that was the case. Yes, Russia had a great song, but it was full of elements that tend to turn juries away - it was kinda dated, copied the previous year's winner, had a reliance on staging gimmicks, was upbeat dance-pop that may not appeal to older jurors, etc etc. Plenty of the top Eurovision betting tipsters were saying, upon the song reveal, that it should do very well on the televote but may struggle to reach top 4-5 with the jury - which is exactly what happened.

Also note that we had a very similar situation in 2011 with Eric Saade's Popular - an upbeat, staging-reliant, Eurovision-y dance pop song that performed much better with televoters than with juries. There were, of course, some differences - namely that Sergey's vocals were definitely stronger than Eric's - but, fairly enough, you'll also see that Sergey came four spots higher with juries than Eric did. There was very obviously no Australia participating in 2011, meaning the common thread is that juries... just don't love that kind of song.

I won't deny that politics can play a part in Eurovision, but seriously, guys; not everything is some behind-the-scenes political conspiracy.

Well, I strongly believe that 2013 & 2016 songs, are similar, in terms of music style.

They did it because it was a bad artificial song and to be honest they even overrated it (it was still top 5 in the juries).
Let's be honest songs like You're the only one is the reason why Eurovision has a bad reputation it was over the top, dated and it relied on gimmicks to hide it numerous flaws. Songs like this don't prosper outside the ESC infamous Bubble, everyone I know who isn't an Eurovision fan hated the song and were glad that it didn't win.
I highly doubt that the EBU send emails to every jury-member saying them to vote for Australia and down-vote Russia.
Anyway back on topic I'm so glad they are going to keep it in Italian I just hope people don't think that it is an joke entry because when I showed it to my sister and her BF thy were weirded out by the gorilla.

ok I'm in love with this song, but like it suddenly grew on me in a day after it got selected. anyways i also find it an extremely genius song and even though I know that most people will think that it's a common happy song and won't understand it's depth, I'm really glad they are keeping it in Italian.

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
Russia was top 3 in the ''eastern'' juries. The ''western'' juries placed Russia 14th. Even more strangely, Italy last year was top 4 in the western juries, but bottom 5 in the eastern juries.

It smells fishy here...

The russian entry was really bad, copied and outdated... a totally different situation from Italy 2017
I'm glad Francesco kept it in Italian :D
