In less than 1 month, we’ll know all 41 songs that will compete in Rotterdam and tonight Lithuania added their entry to that list. THE ROOP will have the honor of representing Lithuania after winning Pabandom iš naujo!
Pabandom iš naujo 2020!
For 2020, Lithuanian national broadcaster (LRT) decided to change their national final, instead of being weeks of marathon shows, then the marathon was instead made much shorter. For 2020, only 6 shows were held, with a total of 3 heats, 2 semi-final and of course, the big final which took place tonight.
It all started with a total of 36 acts taking part in the 3 heats, with 12 songs in each heat, 18 of these songs were then split into the 2 semi-finals with 9 songs in each and finally the final consisting of the 8 best songs from the 2 semi-finals.
These were the 8 songs that took part in the grand final tonight (in following order):
- Aistė Pilvelytė – “Unbreakable“
- Rūta Loop – “We Came From The Sun“
- KaYra – “Alligator“
- Monika Marija – “If I Leave“
- Meandi – “DRIP“
- THE ROOP – “On Fire“
- The Backs – “Fully“
- Moniqué – “Make Me Human“
As always, after every single act has performed, then we all wait in patience for the results, which this year was decided by a televote and a jury in Lithuania, with each having 50% influence on the final outcome.
But before that, viewers had the pleasure of watching what Lithuania’s Baltic neighbor Latvia had to offer for this years competition, when Samanta Tina dropped by to perform her 2020 entry “Still Breathing“.
With the combined score of the juries and the televote, THE ROOP was declared the winners and will now represent Lithuania in Rotterdam. THE ROOP managed to win both the televote and the jury vote and there was no doubt that they had right-fully earned their spot at Eurovision.
Monique could claim 2nd place after finishing as the runner-up with both the juries and the televote, and finally Monika Marija could then claim 3rd place. Full results from the televotes and juries can be seen on the right.
