Re: IRELAND 2018

CONFIRMED: IRELAND'S QUALIFICATION DROUGHT TO END NEXT YEAR

RTÉ have confirmed that our qualification drought is going to end in Lisbon next year. Having not qualified for a final since 2013, Ireland will almost certainly qualify for the final, with Irish Eurovision fans being advised to book tickets for hotels, transport, and the contest itself, inclusive of the 12 May, the date of the final. This is due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Ophelia to Ireland, which will blow the small Atlantic island onto the European continent, landing somewhere between Slovakia and Hungary. Due to this relocation of the country, it is expected that neighbour voting will guarantee a swathe of 12 Points for the republic, bring to an end an embarrassing chapter in Irish Eurovision history.

Re: IRELAND 2018

Can we please send a modern upbeat pop song this year, instead of ballsing around with ballads and outdated pop?

RTE, please. Make this happen. Make my life as an Irish ESC fan somewhat easier.

Re: IRELAND 2018

Even IF Ireland was sending JL, it would pretty much depend on the song. But as a general thought: punk is genuinely a young protest culture. Having a 61 year old doing punk is somewhat paradox. But as I say - I'll make my mind up once we know the song, once he actually is chosen.

I saw a guy called Ryan O'Shaughnessy (I don't know him) announced today that he has something to announce tomorrow. Eurovision maybe? :p

They should't be sticking with the same formula that hasn't done any favors to them in the past decade... I will wait for the song

This screams ... bland  Ireland is probably aiming for place of real winners.

Re: IRELAND 2018

Irish broadcaster is so out of touch it seems, seems like they will stick to the same formula for the third year in a row now that ended in non-qualification so far (bland song performed by a bland male solo singer). Of course, I always hope for pleasant surprises, but doesn't seem very promising.

What happened to Samantha Mumba? Heathers? xshrug
