The latest names confirmed to participate in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012 are:

•Íris Hólm, who entered the 2010 Icelandic selection with the song The one.
•Magni Ásgeirsson, 2011 runner-up with the song Ég trúi á betra líf.
•Rósa Birgitta Ísfeld from the well-known duo Feldberg.

I cross my fingers that they'll surprise us and we won't get yet another chessy middle of the road stuff or euro-schlager.

Lets see if Magni will have a more interesting song than last year.

Re: ICELAND 2012

My biggest fear with Iceland is that they will translate to English (as they always do) and chose something cheesy (as they tend to do aswell).

I hope in 2012 none of my fears will turn true.

I haven't really liked an Icelandic entry in years, and last year was just big fat MEH to me.

1993 remains my favorite Icelandic entry ever:

I really really like Stattu Upp! Very different from Iceland and sounds like a boyband covering Haba Haba but in a good way

Re: ICELAND 2012

I'm disappointed after hearing first 5 entries, because I don't really like any of them.

Here are my rankings:

1. Íris Hólm -Leyndarmál = 7/10
2. Blár opal - Stattu upp = 6.5/10
3. Gréta Salóme and Jónsi - Mundu eftir mér = 6/10
4. Fatherz’n'sonz - Rýtingur = 6/10
5. Heiða Ólafsdóttir - Við hjartarót mina = 5.5/10

Re: ICELAND 2012

Not impressed. All songs are rather boring or they lack something.
I'd chose "Stattu upp" even though it's a b-band.

Re: ICELAND 2012

When they first uploaded songs to söngvakeppni, Iris's song was not this, it was totaly different another song. Did anyone notice this ?
Her song is great in first listening.
