Welcome to the 73rd Edition of the Forum Song Contest
Live from Salzburg, Austria!
Now, the winner of last month's edition:
Conchita Wurst, with her song "Heroes"!
Our host city this month is historic Salzburg, the fourth largest city in Austria,
named after the salt barges carrying their precious cargo up the Salzach river.
Festung Hohensalzburg, just one of the many landmarks in this beautiful city,
sits atop the Festungsberg, overlooking the city with its 1000 year-old walls.
Make your way up to the castle--by cable car or, if you want a good workout,
by foot--and you'll be treated to views of the entire city, as well as the surrounding
Austrian Alps. It's absolutely breathtaking. Here's some pictures of the view:
(I took those, myself, when I visited Salzburg last year! ^^)
It's a beautiful city, and I've barely begun to touch on the amazing sights to see. You
should take a visit, too! You can get there via Salzburg Airport (named after famous
local Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), or, if you're visiting Bavaria in neighboring Germany,
you can even hop on a train and add this picturesque city to your itinerary.
Our venue this month is Hangar 7, a multifunctional building with a restaurant,
bars, a lounge, and a collection of historical aircraft on display. This airfoil-shaped
building will be hosting this month's contest~
Your hosts are (from left to right) Michael Ostrowski, Peter Rapp, and Herr Hermes.
Michael Ostrowski is an Austrian actor, writer, and presenter, best known for
his work on screenplays and as a host of large events like the Amadeus Austrian
Music Award.
Peter Rapp is an Austrian TV presenter who has won multiple awards for his
contributions to television programming. He hosted the talent show Die große
Chance during its first incarnation in the 80s. In the show's current version, Rapp
is now part of the jury selecting talented artists from across Austria. (Conchita Wurst, as
you might recall, was in the 2011 season of this show.)
Herr Hermes is an Austrian TV presenter, entertainer, and DJ. He is known from
his days on the radio in the 1990s and has since hosted numerous shows as well as
lent his voice to narrating various German-language film adaptations.
