Nations or members in cyan have entered NSC at least once before.

Waiting list (WL) rules:

  • Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
  • Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
  • Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
  • Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

nscjoin.png

First of all, welcome to NSC! If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to post them in this thread or ask one of the mods: @Stargazer, @berlyda or @Veronika.

In order to get familiar with the contest, please take a look at the RULES!

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

And most importantly: Have fun!

The way Sean moves nations down the list is a bit flawed atm :p

As far as I know he moves them one by one, starting with the highest nonvoter.
But this doesn't work, because nations that have been moved down already will get moved up again xD (as you can see with Mokiluj and Bachistan)

Moving them down all in one go, or starting from the bottom of the list would solve this problem :)

Oh! So he did move the nations. I thought he didn't (my mistake)...
I think they might not vote again, so you'll move up on the list.

I agree...
each nation after not voting should move 2 places down right?
not sure if that happened in the past few editions :?
now Xorientia and Angelic are the definite debutants in NSC 54 right? as Bachistan and Mokulj failed to vote for the 3rd time (and they were still on top of the list after 2 non voting editions :| )

It just bugs me that I'd still be below Maccha-Brugia even though I voted... What a nice way of saying you're voting for nothing :?

Bojan, Bachistan and Mokiluj WERE moved down 2 places each edition that they didn't vote. The countries that replaced them at the top became proper NSC countries though, so it ended up that Bachistan and Mokiluj stayed top of the list. They will be completely removed from the list now though, because they haven't voted 3 times in a row

Re: Current Member Roster & How to apply for a place

it's kinda confusing that Xorientia and Angelic (I think) voted last time... not sure if they were that low to not go in front of those 2... but ok... might be my bad.

2 countries debuted this edition (i think), so those 2 would've been the only ones that went in front of Mokiluj and Bachistan  It's kinda weird that they've managed to stay up there, but everything has been done correctly :p

Re: Current Member Roster & How to apply for a place

I think a point system should be introduced on the WL, and when a country with draws the country with the most points (rewarded for voting, in finals and semis, deducted for not voting) who has been waiting longest, gets to join :D

Re: Current Member Roster & How to apply for a place

If I can make a suggestion, that I tried to push way back when the system first came into play :p

Instead of moving countries down,
Why don't we move nations that do vote up in the list? At the time, people said that the effect of non-voters being technically shifted to the bottom was too harsh, but with the current system, provided they DO vote once in a while, they'll steadily climb up...

That's my opinions anyway. Basically, the reason nonvoters are staying at the top of the list is because roster-WL turnover is much quicker than it used to be. Changing the punishment to 3 slots or even 4 would also be effective.

Re: Current Member Roster & How to apply for a place

Bachistan and Mokiluj should be gone now yep...they didn't vote in NSC 51 when i hosted, and haven't voted in NSC 52 or 53 either. I'm not sure why it says they're still potential entrants for NSC 54.

@takeru: I was constantly switching opinions at the time, and i'm still not really sure whether it'd be fairer to promote those that do vote :p It would in effect send non-voters to the bottom, who might have a valid reason for not being able to vote, but at the same time it's a positive reward for the voters. I think that being demoted 3 or 4 places instead of 2 would probably be the solution, yes. Even with the current "turnover" as you put it, we shouldn't get more than 4 debutants per edition.

Not that i believe that either Bachistan or Mokiluj would actually send an entry given the chance haha, i think they abandoned the NSC forum long ago. Hell, Bachistan even had the chance to enter back in NSC 51 when they first joined the WL but they didn't send anything.
