Yes it seems that Poland is the big looser of this year.
Their entry would be 5th with the system 1998-2008 and 7th with the system 2009-2012.
But now? Only 14th place !

And they would have been 23rd using the system from 1975 - 1996 ;)

I thought about calculating it but it's too much work. Maybe we could each take a country or two, do the calculation for it and then put the results together?

This is what I was doing
Step 1: Pick a country
Step 2: Convert the top ten of each jury member into the ESC voting system (12-10-8-7, etc)
Step 3: Add their votes together
Step 4: Convert the top ten from the total into the ESC voting system (12-10-8-7, etc)
Step 5: Convert the televote top ten into the ESC voting system (12-10-8-7, etc)
Step 6: Add points from Step 4 and Step 5
Step 7: Convert top ten from Step 6 into ESC voting system (12-10-8-7, etc)

damn, I'll have to keep an eye on this. I have a feeling the UK would have been worse off.

It's apparent that the previous system was more fair. Sure, theoretically juries are still able to manipulate some, but not as much as now.

:ua: would've done worse under any other system (just televote, just jury, 2009-2013 voting). Glad the current system was in place this year.

I see now how the new jury system is a bad thing but I wasn't aware that.
Since it favours songs which are just out of the top 10, it is possible that a song which is 11th with televoters and juries gets the 12 points and a song which is no. 1 with the televoters gets nothing.

On the other hand, I think juries are still important, to balance voting biases. Maybe we should get back to the Old jury voting and acknowledge the fact that Conchita and Poland have a better score then.

The question shouldn't be a maybe, if EBU insists on keeping this awful system yet another year, they just spit in the faces of the public.

It HAS to get back to the previous system IF they are to keep the juries as the juries are now. It just can't be that the juries can totally leave an entry with 0 even if it wins the televote, and we see now that the juries are using the new system to manipulate the outcome, not to vote for the best music.

Poland with 100% televoting would have been 5th.
With the 50-50 system (2009-2012) would have been 7th.
But with the new 50-50 system, they are 14th.
But look at the other side also.
Malta with the previous 50-50 system would have been 15th,only by juries !
Now? 23rd !
Azerbaijan with the previous 50-50 system would have been 13rd !
Now? 22nd!

Don't you think it's less democratic, Laleh?

Broadcasters get a lot of revenue from the televotes, and yet they allow juries to eliminate the impact of the top "selling" songs...... It's fine if lower scores from 5 to 1 get cut by juries, but the to eliminate the big points from the audience is slap in the face imho

Well, just because Azerbaijan landed at the bottom under the new system is no justification of fairness.... I know Azerbaijan is considered evil by many, but that doesn't allow a fair assessment

He doesn't believe in democracy.

And the juries fits his taste so I guess it makes him happy xshrug

I can't take anyone seriously that believes in the choice of the public if they support that this system stays. There's nothing "competent" in purposely sabotaging the votes.
