The final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will kick off in 5 days time. Today, Alva has found time to talk to us.
Hello Alva
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves ? What can you tell us about yourself?
I am Alva, 16 years old, and I am home from the Swedish speaking area of Finland. When I am not studying I take singing lessons, play some piano and do some fitness.
Your song that you will be presenting for the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailuun is “Arrows”. What can you tell us about the song?
Arrows is really my type of song with the international sound, catchy melody and memorable lyrics, but still deep and emotional. The performance will be a very important part too. It´s a love song but I like people to do their own interpretations.
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailuun and Eurovision?
The producer Arto Ruotsala found my youtube channel and wrote to me that he and his team had made a song and that he would like me to sing it. I fell in love with the song immediately.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favourite entry?
I watch it every year. It’s a tradition in our family. I loved Australia’s song Sound of Silence from 2016!
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest , where would you dream to do a performance?
Madison Square Garden, that would be amazing.
Do you think performing at the Eurovision Song Contest will have a positive impact on your career?
Yes I hope so, since this is a great opportunity to show who I am musically.
What is your biggest success so far for you?
I would say that this is the greatest achievement this far. But also, I made a song called A Grand Illusion, for which I got a lot of good feedback
Can you tell us about your first experience with music?
I can’t remember, since music has always been a big part in our family.
