Good evening, Eurovision fans! Do you have whiplash from switching between Estonia, Norway and Belgium’s national finals yet? In case you missed anything, here’s a recap of Eesti Laul Semi-Final 2.

Tonight’s running order included the following entries:

  • Inger – “Awaiting You”
  • Linalakk & Bonzo – “Aeg”
  • Meelik- “Tuju”
  • Elysa – “Bad Philosophy”
  • Robin Juhkental – “Kurbuse matused”
  • m els – “So Good At What You Do”
  • Wiiralt – “Salalik”
  • Sissi – “Lighthouse”
  • Carlos Ukareda – “Whiskey Won’t Forget”
  • Alika – “Bridges”

Semi-Final 2 Qualifiers:

  1. Sissi — “Lighthouse”
  2. Inger — “Awaiting You”
  3. Alika — “Bridges”
  4. Meelik — “Tuju”
  5. m els — “So Good At What You Do”

How the results worked: The first round of qualifiers would be decided by both a professional jury as well as the public vote, while in the second round, only the public would be able to decide. A total of 5 songs could qualify to the final, eliminating half of the competing field. Sissi, Inger, Alika and Meelik were announced as the first-round qualifiers, while m els claimed the fifth qualifying spot in Round 2.

Another exciting highlight: Before the results, Eesti Laul alumna Kerli returned to the stage for a stunning interval performance in which she revealed her new single, “21st Century Kids,” a collaboration with Estonian-American conductor and composer Kristjan Järvi. We haven’t heard much new material from the elven priestess since her 2019 album Shadow Works, but there’s good news for the moonchildren: she’ll be releasing the new single later this month!

Earlier this week during semi-final 1, Estonia chose its first five Eesti Laul finalists: Ollie, Andreas, Anett x Fredi, Bedwetters and Janek advanced from semi-1 to the final, which will take place on Feb. 11, 2023.

How are you feeling about the semi-2 results? Who do #YOU think should represent Estonia at Eurovision 2023? What are your favorite Eesti Laul entries this year? Let us know in the comments below, our social media, our forum, or Discord.
