From left to right: Mirjam, Conchita, Arabella, Alice

Now it’s official: ORF has just announced that Alice Tumler, Mirjam Weichselbraun, Arabella Kiesbauer and Conchita Wurst will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Previously we reported about the first two having already been chosen and Conchita Wurst hosting the green room – Arabella Kiesbauer is a surprising addition though.

Alice Tumler is relatively new to the ORF family – she joined the broadcaster in 2013 and hosted two seasons of the talent show Die Große Chance and other shows since then. She also works for the French/German broadcaster ARTE. Apart from her native languages German and French, she also speaks English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

Mirjam Weichselbraun is probably the most famous TV show host in Austria at the moment. She has hosted countless shows for ORF as well as several German broadcasters. Besides hosting, she has also established an acting career in the last few years. Weichselbraun will also host the four shows of the Austrian preselection for Eurovision 2015.

Arabella Kiesbauer already started working for ORF in the 1980s. Besides several talk shows she also hosted all seasons of the talent show Starmania until 2008. Since then she worked as an ambassador for integration in the team of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and won a Golden Medal for her commitment to tolerance and against racism.

Last but not least we have someone we all know very well already: Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst has been chosen to do the green room interviews.

“For me the message of mutual respect is prevalent in all artistic decisions – with Mirjam Weichselbraun, Alice Tumler, Arabella Kiesbauer and Conchita Wurst we have found fantastic ambassadors to build bridges between people, countries and cultures, between our history and our future,” ORF Programme Director said.

Meh. Not happy with those choices to be honest. Three females seems too much. Why not just two hosts in that case ? Austria/ORF keeps disappointing me with its decision making.
