After a long week of rehearsals and press we were surprised with the opportunity to interview Mimicat after her performance in the Eurovision Village. Pardon the background sound, the party never stops in the village.

Together we had a wonderful chat about her deep love for the 1975 musical Chicago and how both the play and movie have inspired her as a musician. She also disclosed how her favorite Eurovision entry of all time is Duncan Lawrence’s Arcade even though she didn’t know it had won Eurovision until a year later.

She also told us about the changes she made to the staging. The team had a slightly different idea than what Eurovision fans will see tomorrow night. The final product is much more reliant on the back light panels than LEDs but promised that changes are still being sorted.

Who is Mimicat

Mimicat has been singing since she was 9 years old and became well known in 2014 after the release of her album For You. She’s attempted to represent Portugal once before in 2001 but 2023 was her year. Following Eurovision 2023 she’s set to release a brand new album so be on the watch!

Mimicat will perform 5th in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.
