The dress rehearsals are finally upon us! Let’s go through all of them one by one and give you some more details about all of the performances! Germany, France and Italy also rehearsed, let’s break them down as well!

Country: France
Act: La Zarra
Song: “Évidemment”
Semifinal: First (09/05/2022)
Position in Running Order: First Half
The performance starts with some wideshots of La Zarra being high up in the sky with her ‘towerdress’. The first chorus focusses a lot on closeups at the beginning and throughout the chorus goes more to dar shots to see the imposing structure that she’s on. It seems like the thing she stands on can go up and down.
At the second chorus only the top part of the discopole is uncovered. After the big note in the ending we see a pyrocurtain behind her. I think the concept of the staging sounds good on paper, but I think in execution it lacks some energy and it feels rather static unfortunately.

Act: Lord of the Lost
Song: “Blood and Glitter”
Semifinal: First (09/05/2022)
Position in Running Order: Second Half
A note up front: they were not wearing their real outfits.
The songs starts with a focus on the leadsinger with a plain red background. The other bandmembers are setup on a giant triangular structure. There are a lot of flashes of white and the stage fills up with smoke as well. The two guitarists are playing their instrument on the sides of the leadsinger.
Towards the final chorus Chris makes his way over to the front stage for a nice moment where they take it down a notch with some epic lighting around him. Then the chorus pops off again, the guitarists join him and he ends with his signature growls!

Act: Marco Mengoni
Song: “Due Vite”
Semifinal: First (09/05/2022)
Position in Running Order: First Half
The song starts with a semi-closeup slowly zooming in on Marco. He is standing on the front stage with smoke surrounding him. There is a structure behind him with 2 dancers in the distance who you can only see the silhouette off. They jump off these platforms onto what seems to be trampolines because they come straight back up.
The performance mostly focuses on Marco who delivers the song passionately. There isn’t that much to say about the staging to be honest. It just has pretty lighting and a great focus on the singer.
