Wild West needed a stronger performer, Bashar's vocal delivery fell incredibly flat. If you go with a laid-back and smooth song with such a small corpus of notes like this, you need a voice with flavour. Can definitely see why Hera won here, she immediately puts a smile on your face.

EDIT: And now that I read up about the political aspect here... yeah, I understand the Icelandic public even better not wanting to open that Pandora's box.

I love this woman with every fibre of my being and she thoroughly deserves another shot at Eurovision. It's a pleasant bop that's harmless and sweet. :6:

Bring out the white trumpets.... it's basically a female "Embers".

Horrible song, horrible pronounciation. I think she pretty much learned the words phonetically, without knowing English. This has to be one of the worst ESC entries in many years. I guess somebody has to come last this year...

But RUV also say that even if they took all the app votes Hera got and gave them to Bashar she would still win.

Well, I'm glad they gave clarity about this one, and as @crashworld said: the silent majority were probably pro-Hera (or anti-Bashar for that matter); whether that is morally correct or not, I sincerely hope Hera doesn't receive too much backlash about this in Iceland.

It all boils down imo that I hope Iceland participates as normal and Hera will be singing her inoffensive, fine song in Malmö and doesn't qualify for the final, and that's that.

@bold part: I hope you are not suggesting that people who decide to vote for Hera are "morally incorrect" just because they don't vote for Bashar.

Perhaps the majority of the Icelanders prefer Hera (an Icelander, who appears to be extremely well-liked) to represent Iceland and not wanting their representation to be politicized?

No that wasn't what I meant to suggest at all, thanks for asking so I can clarify! I do not have any opinion about voting for Hera because we do not know for what reasons people DID vote for her, and frankly, that doesn't matter - apparently, the majority of the Icelanders preferred Hera, and she won. That's it.

Probably there will be people who do have an opinion about voting for Hera but that's their opinion, not mine.

No. She can speak English. But she has a very typical strong Icelandic accent when she does. This is why I suggested earlier she sing the verses in Icelandic and the chorus in English (if she insists on English being in there). The accent is much stronger in the verses. A lot of Icelanders are fluent in English but they speak it with a horrible accent.

OKAY I have to admit I'm suddenly vibing to Við Förum Hærra looool such a guilty pleasure
Scared of Heights is still really basic to be honest but the Icelandic version is enjoyable

I've seen a few people say that exact claim already.

Yes, as if it's the most logical reason for Hera winning, and not that Icelandic people anti voted Bashar in the super final, didn't like his song as much or simply liked her song more. Nope, Mossad rigged it. The Twitter sphere of the fandom have been echo chamber'ing that one all day.

I feel it just sounds better in Icelandic. You just want to shout that little catchphrase "Vid Förum Hærra" every time that chorus hits. And the overall effect of the song was more festive in its Icelandic version.

Petition to tell miss Hera that Vid Förum Hærra >>>>>>>> Scared of Heights
