Not necessarily as the problem with the app was people who voted for Bashar said that their votes were rerooted to Hera. So it's not just Bashar gaining 2000, Hera would lose some of hers as well.It depends on how many of those 2000 votes went through the app.

Sorry for the misinformation in my earlier post.

According to RUV's website:

The statement says that votes cast by SMS are less than 2% of all votes cast and that even if all the SMS votes received by the winning song in the duel had gone to the song that landed in 2nd place, it would not have changed the final result.

So by a simple maths, the breakdown of the superfinal votes:

- Hera received 68,768 votes, of which 1,109 were via SMS.
- Bashar received 49,832 votes, of which 1,005 came by SMS.

So even if you add the 1,109 SMS votes to Bashar, and minus the same amount from Hera, Hera would still have won.

- Hera: 15,406 + 16,661 + 68,768 - 1,109 = 99,726
- Bashar: 26,359 + 21,304 + 49,832 + 1,109 = 98,604

And this is assuming that ALL of Hera's SMS votes are supposed to be for Bashar, when in actual, it COULD BE even lesser than 1,109 votes.

Source from RUV:

So if we are to take RUV's words for it, then there is no foul play here.

Ok so now they are just deciding if they want to participate in Malmö? While Hera already confirmed she'd like to go?
Poor Hera doesn't know if she should keep May empty in her diary

They probably just don't want to confirm straight away. We will hear from them before Sunday I'm sure. Although if Hera has recieved any hate post or seen fandoms comments about her song.... it could be her who needs to think a little longer. We eurofans can be so toxic.

I mean it's not like Hera is some global superstar that has her schedule fully booked.

The issue here is, since that Hera has already expressed her interest to enter the contest as Iceland's representative, not sure why RUV is taking their time to confirm. I question their motives.

According to ESC website, RUV will give their confirmation in the "coming days". As to when? Who knows, maybe they are also seeing if Israel will pull out from the competition before they give their confirmation.

Believe it or not, I'm not a global superstar as well but I'd like to know what I'm up to in May this time around as well

But yeah I get your point, it feels a little.. well dodgy isn't the right word but as they give little information it's vague what we're actually waiting for, and I just hope it isn't because Hera is pressured in deciding not to participate. Hm.

I finally listened to Heras entry now. It´s not as bad as some comments say but I agree that it´s REALLY cheesy and feels like teleported from 2002. Her voice is good but I´m feeling really uncomfortable the way she smiles especially at the beginning, she kinda appears like a Jehovas Whitness who wants to sell you the newest edition of The Watchtower. xscared

All in all I give :is: a :4:, not a disaster but competitive at all and after a minute I already forgot most of it. xshrug

I

No. She can speak English. But she has a very typical strong Icelandic accent when she does. This is why I suggested earlier she sing the verses in Icelandic and the chorus in English (if she insists on English being in there). The accent is much stronger in the verses. A lot of Icelanders are fluent in English but they speak it with a horrible accent.
In 2010 I read Hera learnt French at school. That was also well reflected in her first ESC entry which she even did a full-French recording of. So if this is her language of choice, I suggest she just go with it. Would moreover help the song to stand out a bit more.
Personally, however, I already like it the way it is, despite the accent. 7 points.

I feel like RUV was blindsided by Bashar's loss and they were fully expecting to compete in Eurovision with a Palestinian artist and in case Murad refused, they'd go "Oh well, we tried!".

It's strange to prolong a final decision when Hera Bjork has already expressed her desire to compete. Just let her go atp.

The longer RUV prolong their decision, the more I am inclined to believe they are basically waiting to see what is happening to Israel.
I am not surprised if Israel's song was rejected before or by 11 Mar, then you will hear RUV miraculously saying they will participate.

All of this is so freaking tiring.

Thank God(ney) that most of this drama will be resolved/over next week when broadcaster have to submit their bids.
