To put it with a Czech film "classic": Kravina na kvadrát, výplod šílence, debilní paskvil.
"To muselo dát příšernou práci. A přitom taková blbost, co?"

What's funny is that last year people predicted Aiko to do so badly while this year they predicted top 5, yet Aiko delivered such a strong performance it was so coordinated.
Is this really the same team that did the staging of pedestal?
Its day and night.
Yeah I thought Aiko's performance was great and watching it, I'd even thought it would qualify.

I'm surprised the same team did KKG's staging. Everything about it was wrong.

btw, all the ESC shows were moved to the main ČT1 channel this year - definitely the right move

but it didn't really do anything to the viewership numbers, because as every single year, Eurovision clashes with annual Ice hockey world championships. And when it comes to ice hockey, nothing can compete with it.

Our ice hockey game yesterday was clashing with ESC SF2 and even though we played the game against shitty Hungary who look like they hold hockey sticks in their hands for the first time, it was the #1 show with 1.4 million viewers. Eurovision Semifinal 2 didn't even make it into Top 10 most watched shows yesterday, and the 10th most watched had 151k viewers :))
So paradoxically, the Semifinal 1 without our participation had more viewers.
ESC SF1 on Tuesday was the 10th most viewed show with 162k viewers and 7,5% market share.

tbf it's likely that some people - me included - prefer to watch the YouTube livestream without the Czech commentary

Why is it do you think people in Czech Republic are not into Eurovision more? Is it because of results and would it change dramatically if Czechia won Eurovision?

We came late to the party and thus did not create any connection to the contest when it still was rather perceivable as normal, thus in the 90es like most ex-Eastern Bloc states and ex-YU states.
Not much promotion of the contest among the Czech public and the musical scene.
At the same time, we have to be honest: Why should a Czech be attracted to the ESC? Chances of success are rather dull, the music there is not exactly appeasing an average taste and if you wanna watch some entertainment you have other options.

I feel like it could be improved if Slovakia re-joined. We like bantering with each other and it would create some more natural competition and an achievable goal for us both - to out do the other one - while having a sense of being in something bigger together

I’ve enjoyed this very much. I don’t understand why it failed
I tried to understand it as well.
In my case, liking the song beforehand made me oversee a lot while watching it performed live.

The MV for the song (which had an influence on me liking it) was providing some storytelling, and this was needed when it comes to the very random dance break.

The live version does not have any kind of storytelling. The staging does not particularly enhance the song and the dance break feels very disjointed. I can’t really see why a casual viewer seeing this for the first time would vote for it. Most people probably send votes to their top 3 songs at most (actually don’t have the data for that except it’s what I do)

I've heard the song is about his broken relationship with his biological father, who walked out when ADONXS was young.
Probably a hard story to convey on stage.

We need to see a Eurovision contest where Czech Republic and Slovakia are actually included in the same year. I wanna see how the votes would go between the two countries. ;) :D It's crazy it hasn't happened yet.

If only Slovakia's politics weren't so messy, it probably would have happened already.

The dance break was a killer. It was entirely unnecessary and destroyed any immersion the performance had. Hes apparently singing about his absent father then the song changes up with a really cheap basic beat. Other factors i'm sure contributed but that was what did it, i'm sure. He should have gone with that accoustic version

Yeah its quite ironic that they (re)entered around the same time in the late 00s but only were once in the same edition (albeit in different semis).
I really see a lot of good will from the czech broadcaster to do well and Adonxs certainly was a high-class act that unfortunately didn't fare too well in the end. But I really, really hope they will continue and eventually maybe also get their slovak neighbour back at some point.

Surprised to see not qualify as it's a good song and a good singer. I think that Andonis has nothing to be ashamed of.

I like some parts of the entry but some parts are wtf vocally (especially when he sang low pitch/notes) and musically (that sudden change from pop rock to EDM is so awkward it's crazy). 5 points

Such a shame, the song is definitely great, but the performance was very lackluster. Inappropriate costumes + unstable vocals + unnecessary dancebreak. It totally felt like a NQ even before the results, so I wasn't surprised :(

I hope some lessons will be learned and that Czechia will come back stronger next year!
