This morning, UMK released the names of the artists competing in this year’s contest. Today, the first of their songs was released. Each weekday until 20/01 we will have a new song released from Finland. Today, we start with Keira and “No Business On The Dancefloor”.

Keira is the youngest competitor of this years UMK at just 18 and her song was written by big names such as Teemu Brunila and Axel Ehnstrom from Finland and German Jason OK.

She previously has participated in the Finnish version of The Voice and she made it all the way to the final finishing 3rd.

Keira draws inspiration from many pop stars from across the world including BTS, Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande. Her song and performance takes inspiration from these worldwide stars. “No Business on The Dancefloor” is Keira’s debut single.

UMK has released their reasoning for selection by their board for each artist. For Keira they have said the following;

“Keira, who charmed and convinced in the Voice of Finland, is responsible for perhaps the hardest dance song in UMK’s history. The song’s elements are a really groove bass line, a catchy chorus, Härö flute drop and Keira’s crazy vocal sound, which could create, for example, a European radio hit. The background of the song includes Teemu Brunila and Axel Ehnström , who are among Finland’s most internationally successful songwriters . No Business On The Dancefloor is certainly one of the most convincing debut singles that has been heard in Finland in a while.”

The UMK final is on the 25th of February in Turku. The names of the six other artists were released today and their songs will come out one by one each weekday until 20/01.
