The Junior Eurovision train is slowly, but steadily moving towards Yerevan in these days, with The Netherlands being the next country to not only pick their act, but their song as well. Tonight saw 4 acts compete for the chance to represent the only country, that has taken part in the contest, since it’s beginning in 2003.

Junior Songfestival 2022

As mentioned before, a total of 4 acts were picked to compete for the Dutch ticket to the Armenian capital. The national final was held in the exact same arena, that hosted the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest and even the 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest as well, of course we’re talking about Ahoy in Rotterdam. These were the 4 acts competing tonight, in the following order:

  1. Infinity – “Never Ever”‘
  2. Mixed Up – “It Doesn’t Matter”
  3. High5 – “Because I Know”
  4. Luna – “La Festa”

The results would be determined equally between a kids jury, which consisted of last year’s Junior Songfestival participants, which were Shine, Priscilla and last year’s winner Ayana, a professional jury, consisting of Chantal Janzen (ESC ’21 host), Flemming and Glen Faria, and finally online voting.

Despite having 3 different type of juries, it didn’t have any meaning in the end, as all 3 groups fully agreed with each other on the final outcome. The final results were as follow:

  1. Luna – 36 points (12+12+12)
  2. Mixed Up – 30 points (10+10+10)
  3. High5 – 27 points (9+9+9)
  4. Infinity – 24 points (8+8+8)

With that, Luna will have the honor of representing The Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, which is set to be held in Yerevan, Armenia.

At the moment, only Ukraine is the only other country, that have also revealed their entry fully, while a few others have so far only revealed their entrant, but not their entry. It is still unknown, how many countries will exactly participate in the competition.
