Europe tuned into the Latvian program, “Rīta Panorāmā“, to find out the entries for this year’s edition of Supernova, the national final selection process for Latvia’s entry at the Eurovision Song Contest. We also learned some details regarding the dates for the semi-final and the final, 3rd of February and 10th of February, respectively.

Further clarifications for the Supernova format were also announced, with both the semifinal and the final being jury voting and televoting. While the songs will be first performed live next month, you don’t have to wait to hear the entrants.

LTV also released the 15 entries to this year’s Supernova, with bios detailing the entrants. For further details regarding all the 15 participants, you can find them here.

As a quick recap, these are the 15 semi-finalists:

  • Agnese Rakovska – “AI”
  • Alekss Silver – “For The Show”
  • Avéi – “Mine”
  • B/H – “Amsterdam”
  • Don – “Hollow”
  • Ecto – “Outsider”
  • Edvards Strazdins – “Rock n Roll Supernova”
  • Funkinbiz – “Na Chystu Vodu”
  • Jar of Kings – “Wildfire”
  • Katrina Gupalo – “The Cat’s Song”

  • Patricia Spale – “Heaven’s Raining Down On Me”
  • St Levica – “Tick Tock”

  • Vēstulēs – “Where?”

Latvia was last represented by Sudden Lights in Liverpool last year. Latvia finished 11th in the first semi-final with 34 points, therefore failing to qualify for the final for the sixth straight time. Will this year’s winning Supernova entry break the streak?
