5 days to go for the national final in Georgia. Today we had time to talk to Maliibu who will participate with the entry “We live once”
First of all thank you for your time talking to us. How are you ? Can you introduce yourselves ? What can you tell us about yourself?
Hello! I am Maliibu and I am a Georgian singer and songwriter as well. I am 18 years. I am originally from Batumi but a year ago I moved to Tbilisi.I am definitely focused on music. I started writing my own songs when I was 10 years old.I went on to study music, and in particular, I studied at music college until 2013. I can play guitar and piano.
I had to work very hard until I was lucky to take a part in the project similar to ” X-Factor”. Unfortunately, after a few live concerts, I left the project.I was very disappointed but this fact had its positive sides.I was given a great opportunity to come to my dreams true, to realize my work. I just wanted people to remember me as the girl with the strange name ” Maliibu ” who writes a song for the people to underscore the charm of life, and gave them the strength to be who they want to!
Your song that you will be presenting for the national final in Georgia is “We live once”. What can you tell us about the song?
To this song, I put all my emotions and feelings. This song is very important to me because when I was writing it I felt a power that I can do everything for my little country. My song is about human freedom, decisions, opportunities and their feelings. My each and single word in my song is about what we need today to be free! “We live once” is about humanity. That’s all that I can say now,the rest you will see,I promise!
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for the national final in Georgia and Eurovision?
Yes,I wrote it specifically for the national final in Georgia. When I started working on this song,I was sitting in a dark room with a one candle, pencil and my songs notebook. I just wanted to give people the strength and to come out with everything that humans needs to get freedom.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favourite entry?
I do watch it of course, and the best thing of the Eurovision Song Contest is that you can reach out your message to the world and you can sing with your true emotions and people will trust your sincere words.
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest , where would you dream to do a performance?
My biggest dream is to sing at the Grammy Awards.
Has being on tv made you more self-conscious?
I don’t know, maybe yes.
What ís the best bit of advice you have ever been given?
I always say same thing to everyone I know – Do what you love and never listen to others because we only live once and we will never have another chance.
