i wonder tho are sympathy votes a common practice in swedish television shows?

Yeah, I would say so. Swedes are very collective minded and if the media say jump they jump not even reflecting on why so if the media hype something up (like they did with The Mamas last year), people jump onboard, and they love sob stories and underdog stories so I can definitely see sympathy votes coming en masse this time around.

The Mamas 2020 wasn't even really generally what I would consider Swedish "taste" to begin with (apart from the happy generic sound), if you break down the voting stats they didn't even win the telephone votes (they came third after Anna and Dotter), but with the additional app votes divided into age-demography groups, they won the public vote but it can be compared a bit to how electors work in the American presidential election rather than actual winning the popular vote.

But coming back to your question, yes I think The Mamas will win regardless of how their entry will sound like, but sure I could be wrong but I wouldn't put my money on any other act winning this edition.

The only returnee I'm at all excited about is Dotter. Mustasch as well although I don't consider them really a returning act. Some of the newcomers like Nathalie, Kadiatou, Frida I have hopes for too although they most likely won't make out of the semifinals.

So based on the limited info we got so far; Danny, Dotter, Mustasch, Jessica Andersson, Clara Klingenström, Elisa and Lovad are the ones I'm most hopeful about, but it's too early to tell only based on clues about titles and songwriters.

I'm excited for Sannex, Lillasyster & Mustasch.
On a more mainstream poppy side of the spectrum, anything can happen. There are some familiar faces that can do it for me, but i miss my favorite girls i came to love over the past few editions of MF.
