Too drunk to remember my votes, but both my 12s qualified I think.....

I for one am glad to have 30 finalists, it means I can expect a place in the uberexclusive (read: hipster) 30th place club. Bring it on!

And I doubt 8 year old girls ever had a major impact on music charts.

Indeed, I have no evidence to back up the claim that only eight year old girls caused this phenomenon. And that is exactly why I made no such claim in the first place. I merely said that they had an impact (and one doesn't have to be the whole, or even necessarily the majority to have that). I very much remember being young and my two sisters buying such songs on cassettes (cassettes!), along with their friends and my classmates in primary school. And there was a reason that the main music chart show on UK terrestrial TV at the time moved from Friday evenings to right after those Saturday morning children's TV extravaganzas...

Y'all are free to like what you want. I just don't, is all.

And I wasn't having a go - was merely pointing out that I pretty much bought every bubblegum release that came out in the UK since I adored the stuff. So yeah, apologies to those that despaired at the fact that Aqua and the like were taking over their radio playlists. I probably played my part in that
