Baby
Sometimes love can bring you down
But, honey
Keep your head up
Keep your head up
Keep your head up
Remember who you are

You can call me crazy
Or just call my name
You can say that I'm stunning
It's not a shame
'Cause I know I am
I know I am, hah
'Cause I know I am
I know I am
I like this attitude
I like the game
You can say that I'm brave
I'm never the same
'Cause I know I am (I know I am)
I know I am (I know I am)
'Cause I know I am (I know I am)
Hah, I know I am

Baby, come with me, follow me
Tell me if we can take it to the floor
(Oh-ooh, oh-ooh, oh-ooh, oh-ooh)
I'm the fire, the power
And if you're asking
I was gonna take it all (All, all)

You know I am
You know I am
'Cause I na-na-na know I am, am
And no one brings me down
I'm gonna take the crown
Give it to me now

I'm shameless and I'm spotless and I'm flawless
Always take it up 'cause I'm a winner, I don't want less
Going for the things I should and maybe I'm ferocious
Making you the one I want and I'm not even topless (Be cautious)
It's going down for real
Twenty twenty-two, let's seal the deal
(Middle East) Is the new sex appeal
Bam, bam, this is how it feel

Baby, come with me, follow me
Tell me if we can take it to the floor
(Oh-ooh, oh-ooh, oh-ooh, oh-ooh)
Ooh, I'm the fire, the power
And if you're asking
I was gonna take it all (All, all, all)

You know I am
You know I am
'Cause I na-na-na know I am, am
And no one brings me down
I'm gonna take the crown
Give it to me now

Baby
Sometimes life can bring you down
But I'll remember
To always keep my head up
'Cause no one brings me down
I'm gonna take the crown
Give it to me now

On no planet is this song "overhyped", quite the contrary... alot of people like Michael though as a performer (me included), but that's not the same as praising the song which very few do (it might actually rather be one of the most hated songs of the season).

I still hope that they manage to revamp the hell out of it, but I think the chance is narrow.

So "very positive reactions" = "overhyped"?

At the end of the day, the song will definitely have its audience, so if the very positive reactions are coming from its targeted audience, it is still very well-expected. So you probably should elaborate more where these positive reactions are coming from and who are giving these positive reactions, because from where I have seen/seeing (with the exception of its targeted audience), it is generally well-hated/disliked by the ESC community.
Hated/disliked by the ESC-forum community though often does not mean the same as getting a bad result at the actual ESC. I remember some Moldovan entries getting a lot of flak and doing top 10 in the contest in the past for instance. But they know how to stage themselves at very least.

I mean definitely, coz at the end of the day ESC community is just a portion of the overall televote.
But then let's be honest, this song is crafted technically to a very specific audience (who is usually part of the ESC community). If the ESC community as a whole is giving negative reactions to the song, I really can't see how your casual viewers are going to vote for this song. It may come across way too campy or even obnoxious to the casual viewers.

The likelihood that Israel is going to qualify will largely due to televotes. Besides getting the votes from the targeted audience, I can only see the casual viewers voting for the entry are either impressed by Michael's showmanship and can overlook the song (or the lack thereof) & enjoy the fun the overall package is bringing or treat this as a "joke" entry and vote for the fun of it. I really can't see how this song is going to do well with the juries, maybe a few appreciation points here and there for Michael's vocals and stage presence.

Obviously it's not a winner this year regardless of what the revamped version will be but he can do reasonably well with this song. As for being campy? Cezar from Romania did Q and had a mid-table result in the Final in 2013 and Verka Serduchka placed 2nd in 2007.

Staying in the semi is possible but Michael is a strong singer and performer live, people shouldn't forget that.

I mean I would love for Michael to do well. At this point, I am rooting for the singer more than the song.
But let's not forget, Eurovision these days are no longer what it is used to be. There is definitely a shift in how the general public view the contest. What has done well in the past may no longer work in the current era.

One of the advantages that Israel has is the song is one of the few fun uptempos we are getting in SF2. His direct competitor will be Romania (which is in the second half) and I hope the producers will place them far apart. I have a feeling Israel is most likely going to be the opener of the show, which could also work in their advantage if the mood is set right.

"I.M." it's a divisive song. There are those who consider it extraordinary and those who find it banal. I am among those few people in the middle who like the song but without exceeding in enthusiasm. "I.M." it's a song with a lot of energy, with a very glamorous and irreverent sound. Michael Ben David's voice cannot be considered weak indeed, in addition to power, it is also very interpretative. Israel's music product is solid but anyway, now comes the downside, it doesn't make you exclaim "Oh my God! What's happening?". Good luck, Israel! I hope that Michael will be able to win the highest number of fans on the Turin stage!

It sounds like they have thrown together pieces from a few different songs, some of them better and some of them worse. Overall it's not catchy enough and too inconsistent. 6 points.

This revamp...

I don't know how to explain it. They overdid it with the ethno-Middle Eastern-sounding instruments in the chorus and now it's lost its impact. They tried to put in a couple of big Siren Song brassy drops at the start of each chorus but didn't carry them through the rest of the chorus. It's like they wanted to add in as many elements as possible, and in doing so the song lost its identity. Idk. Disappointed.

I know that we are used to the first version of the song but honestly, I don´t think that much has changed:

The good:
- The structure of the song remains the same. I was afraid of getting more ethno-influenced instrumentals or a different melody but no, it´s the same song, the same lyrics, the same melody
- It sounds more polished and the feel that "it´s a demo" is gone.
- The sound is richer (especially in the verses, the lower register of the backing singers was a good choice,... or the "I know I am" part before the pre-chorus kicks in sounds bombastic now and is way more effective.

The bad:
- That flute sound in the chorus might have enriched the arrangement but it also slightly takes away the "roughness" of the beat in the chorus.

All in all, I think it´s a good revamp because it didn´t change the song and just add sounds and layers to make this entry richer in sound. I just have to get used to that flute sound in the chorus - I don´t know whether it´s a good or bad element to include - it´s borderline killing the vibe of the rough and heavy beat in the chorus but it also adds another very memorable and catchy element.

I will not change my vote for now.
