I keep excpecting for more songs like for example last year's Finland, The Netherlands and Iceland etc to come and more quality alternative or pop songs. Or for France to offer something like L'enfer et moi again (which I looved).. so I was pretty disappointed at first when I heard this one. But after listening more.. It's not actually that bad, even though it's almost excrutiatingly old-fashioned and boring in a way. For now, imo better than Malta and Albania at least.

I'm disappointed with France, because the recent years I loved their entries, but 'N'oubliez pas' isn't my cup of tea at all. It sounds old and pretentious, imo.

I just wrote an editorial about the What Ifs of Eurovision.. a look back at eurovision and asking what if certain things had gone differently then how would eurovision have changed... I wrote 2 parts on France. One being they would have been the sole winners in 1969 under current rules. and the same in 1991, they would have been the winners...

BTW, for you to know that we haven't turned back to Middle Ages as say some people by there, and as seems to make believe this post-modern ballad, here are the highest French songs in French charts...

Louane - Je vole xlove

The Avener - Fade out lines xmusic

David Guetta feat. Sam Martin - Dangerous xguitar

Christine & the Queens - Christine xparty

Christine & the Queens - Saint-Claude xbow

And this tops albums charts for the 11th week...

But as our broadcaster thinks that Eurovision is a kitschfest with tacky old-fashioned songs everywhere, and that we have to do everything in order to be the farthest possible of the podium not to organize it ourselves... xfacepalm

Totally agree, the songs so far are soo mediocre and boring that if the rest of the songs will be like this I will fall asleep during the grand Final! And this song is just the highpoint of mediocrety for me.

I actually don't agree it's better than :mt: and :al:, because although i don't like the songs, there are at least some elements in there i kind of like or think is funny.
Sometimes bad doesn't mean a song that has horrible music, sometimes bad is the absence of good. There is nothing in this song, not even one second, i find enyoable, funny or pleasent to listen to. Its like eating a pizza without cheese and tomatoes. When the song ended I already forgot about it, I even dare to say I forget the song while listening to it. Im getting really impatience waiting for the first good song to appear...

Spain five? WHEN?

Did I speak some sort of magic English? Spain has one victory less under the current ruling, because the sole winner of 1969 would have been France.

El ganador del Eurovisión 1969 es Francía!

You said France had six and all the rest had one less. I took it as "one less than France", not as "one less than they have". That's why I was shocked ;)

The first time I heard this song I thought this would be another france entry which will end bad in the voting. But now the song is really getting on me.

I thought it was bad at the first listening, but now it sounds like a masterpiece compared to the other selected songs...

Lyrics video with english subtitles:

wow. I actually found those lyrics quite moving, and I feel like i understand the song more. Some lyrics are quite borderline (as in surprised the EBU haven't objected to them) when you know what the song is about.

I feel exactly the same, wow. Beautiful, beautiful lyrics... it's such a shame that most don't understand French so they won't be able to connect with them. Stunning song.

They have actually pushed me to move France up my song ranking.
