Btw i just checked the sf2 redults and the only countries NOT giving 12 to israhell gave their highest points to a neighbour/friend( i.e. greece - armenia).... And people complain about the juries?
Sucks. I try to be delusional and say most of it was based on the fact that the songs this year were dogshit and they didn't know who to vote for so they voted for their neighbors.

We seriously need to define who qualifies to be a jury.
This is European music olympics and if you cannot appreciate European local elements, you shouldn’t be a jury.

I completely agree. And do you know what?

Honestly, I think it should be us. We are truly invested in the contest, some of us have been following it for 20+ years, we know what the European music scene is like and we have an open mind for new things.

I suggested this on the forum a couple of years ago, and someone pointed out how corrupt OGAE voting is and I don’t really have a solid counterargument against that.

I feel sorry for JJ: his win is legitimate in my eyes, we should celebrate it but the shadows over this contest are only intensifying year by year...
His result in jury voting was legitimate, but I can't feel happiness, relief only because he won over Israel. Without their tactics, other, more deserving entries would get more points and who knows, maybe would have beaten Austria. Congrats to them, it just feels like we shoulnd't have a winner here.

Austria will host next contest, it's their job to put pressure on EBU.

random thoughts/desires:
  1. Juries need to be bigger and either demoscopic (in which case, no televote, tho unrealistic) or true professionals, but primarily, more people.
  2. there needs to be a way to prove you are watching/have watched what you vote for.
  3. No voting marketing. Just. No voting marketing. Ads for televoting are forbidden.
  4. Any country whose weapons have recently killed at least x thousand people in " their own " or a neighbouring country/territory in the past year has to be excluded.
  5. The show needs to be less big/look at my pretty stage. There are artists whose face we barely saw because there were constant zoom outs to the big stage showing of the lights. Less emphasis on "how many fancy led screens and strobe lights can we have" and more on songs. The staging being smaller/less expensive will also advantage countries who don't have giant budgets.
  6. Totally randomized running order. Yes, it might not give the best flow, but give it all to pure luck, no producer meddling.

Even after some hours of sleep I am still completely flabbergasted.
I mean you gotta give it to the EBU. They managed to almost drive Eurovision off the same cliff two years in a row. That’s a feat in itself. Maybe three time‘s the charm.

With juries :be: would have qualified over :sm:, while in Semi2 no qualifier would have changed?

The contest seriously needs some revamps.

Ban advertising for votes, ritch countries have huge advantages as it is.

Bring back the Balkans, somehow, lower the costs, have talks with the delegations, we need them desperately at this point.

Get new sponsors, and more of them if you have to. You cannot tell me there aren't big brands that would sponsor.

Revamp how the juries vote - we need way more strict rules there, their voting is clearly needed but was also a mess.

Stop silencing the crowd. It's offensive at the least, it's downright fraud at it's worst.

Get rid of the dumb "producer's choice".

And at this point I'll even support temporarily banning countries that are in active war. It messes up the televote way too much and creates some much unneeded tension. I realise that means losing some countries that we really don't want to lose, but it seems like the only way to get out of the mess that we are in.
