Ok. I explain. If you watch the entire show, there were lots, and lots, AND LOTS of references to Italy, to the Italian language in general and I find it particularly strange, since Switzerland has four languages and in Basel Italian isn't even the primary language. Michelle in the beginning said "hello to all Italians in the world watching": doesn't it seem strange to say something like that when she is a Swiss, presenting in Switzerland an international contest? Sandra Stuber sang in Italian in 1991, that's right, but she is a German native speaker: how many times did you hear her talk in German and how many times in Italian? Then songs, hommages to the language, hosts singing in Italian. And then we came to the voting. As I said, I have the strong suspicion Tommy Cash and Lucio Corsi were chosen by the juries to be the Plan B to an eventual JJ flop in the televote. And they gave that message to televoters by giving hints about who they want to vote using the hosts. The juries already voted, and as you can see Lucio and Tommy were rewarded by juries. Did they know something we don't? Did they try to give us hints on the horses to vote? Maybe it's just a conspiracy theory. But I found the entire show so strange and, for some reasons, unnatural.

Am I a conspiracy theorist or maybe this time Switzerland wasn't so neutral?

I completely agree with you. I knew Italy would do a good job, top 10? but yesterday it was extra. And Estonia............. you know. Those jury votes were exaggerated.

I already thought JJ was out of competition BUT OMG I rooted so much for him in the last 10 minutes. He has been this year's Nemo. You know what I mean, something feels very wrong about ESC. Now we all know we need to sing a strong ballad with good show in order to win the juries.

When it comes to Spain, it was crystal clear our final results. I expected more grace coming from the Caucusus in the voting but it didn't happen. Hopefully our delegation will be replaced next year.... or not.

All it takes for Israel to win is to send a song that is not clearly referring to the war but a fun song like they sent in 2015, or even just a pop song like 2023 and they will win easily
Don't think that will happen soon, they will keep sending sad songs with singers tied to the war. Just wait next year it's a soldier who lost a leg or something. Some soldiers already tried to represent them this year.

Yes if Israel and Ukraine are in the same semi next year there will be 8 qualifiers really (hopefully Russia fucks off by next may but I'm doubtful)
We can't justify Ukraine's results just because the war is on. If they will send Klitschko singing some gibberish for 3 minutes and they will get 172 points in televoting, it will be fine?

If Russia fucks off, like I hope, that will also mean we can declare 2026 winner without even starting the contest. Another thing preventing Israel from winning, and I feel extremely sorry saying this, are Ukraine pity votes from Ukrainian refugees spread all around Europe. So I hope Ukraine can find its peace, but in the same time I feel that will be the nail in the coffin for an Israeli win in the contest.

HATE to say it but Russia is just getting started, guys. A baltic country will join Ukraine and Israel in terms of political pity points rather sooner than later.

The drama, the meltdown and those living in their own echo chamber seething and near self-combust. I L.O.V.E it.

Huge congrats to Austria on their win!

The comparison between Ukraine and Israel in here is highly problematic tbh.
One of the two is literally running an entire government funded add campaign to whitewash war crimes ...
While the other is fighting for it's existence and wasn't even remotely close to winning this year.

While yeah but the reason people ultimately vote for them is the same, wanting to show support for a country at war. And Ukraine won their semi.

To that I obviously agree. But when talking about Eurovision, they are comparable: both have their televote numbers boosted for a reason or the other. If one of the two someday loses those boosted numbers, that will benefit the other one.

The Israeli delegation will be delighted at the idea of Ukraine and Russia ending their hostilities, but not for the right reasons to be delighted.
