Baltics have nothing to do with Slavic languages. Austria too. Poland and Ukraine yes but do the Yugo-slavs feel musically represented by Lost love, Gaia or Birds of Pray? I'm not sure
you mentioned czechia so i'm pretty sure they're referring to them, they're much closer to poland (both western slavs) and austria (neighbours) than to the ex jugo countries

Before convincing myself to sleep for 4 hours and a half before going to work, I wanted to post the songs I voted for (2 smartphones, 1 landline):

My votes from 🇩🇪:

20x Luxembourg 🇱🇺
14x Greece 🇬🇷
13x Montenegro 🇲🇪
10x Lithuania 🇱🇹
2x Armenia 🇦🇲
1x Israel 🇮🇱

Personally, I think it was a brilliant semi final with amazing finalists! I wanted to vote for Latvia but thought that it would be in vain (and my votes for Montenegro already filled up thay spot).

I don't understand Denmark. It's dated and tok generic for my liking. Like a pop song which could have been successful in Eurovjsjon 15 years ago BUT I'm very happy for Sissal! She's great and Im happy for Denmark as well. We missed them for too long. It's nice to see them back in the GF!

I still would have swapped them with Serbia or Montenegro to fill the "traditional Balkan ballad" gap but seeing their performances, I don't think they will be deeply missed in the GF (especially Sebia's staging was bad).

A pity Czechia didn't go through because od the song but it wasn't a surprise. Mediocre vocals, horrible outfits and the dance break and the staging were painfully ugly.

Why did I massively vote for Luxembourg?
I really enjoyed the performance. It was fun, joyful and I needed to see the smaller countries performing well, tbh. Laura deserves to be in the final!

I'm so happy to see all Baltics, all Nordics united as well as countries such as Iceland, Malta, San Marino and Luxembourg qualify.

I wish all the politics and unfair bs comments would stop but it seems that people will never be justified.

A fan posted on FB that it's all political because 'only countries close to Switzerland qualified' and someone else wrote that Eurovision is about politics and not quality otherwise Ireland or Australia or Croatia would have qualified xD

You have every right to be disappointed that your countries or favourites didn't make it but calling Ireland/Croatia/Australia quality entries or blaming Latvia, Portugal, Armenia for being to close to Switzerland, geographically, is a reach.

Quick summary of :al: „safe/ likely televoting points“:

:me: :12:

:sl: :12:
:it: :10:
:ch: :10:
:gr: :8:
:at: :7:

…?

I think it's an 8 in Italy... after Ponte and Cash. Actually Estonia's song was everywhere here in Italy when it came out. I don't particularly like it, but I know lot of people do.

I thought :it: people might be having mixed feelings about it?

The problem is mixed feelings means that who loathes it loathes it, but who loves it loves it and it's probably voting for it. In Italy we have mostly casual viewers, so Espresso Macchiato will have lots of votes. Some will turn on Eurovision just to see him without knowing nothing of the other contestants, probably.

And that's why our televoting always seem so strange...

I see aef has beaten me to it but I wanted to try and guess (or rather just make my own seeing as it's so impossible to properly predict now) the running order. I think Luxembourg would make the perfect opener as it was so vibrantly staged and welcoming. I put Finland as late as possible to avoid Ofcom complaints from upset parents xhelp Generally tried to spread out song styles and tempos so nothing too similar-ish would clash. I was going to put Armenia as more of a typical BIG BANG kind of finale moment but then I thought Italy would be quite touching and sweet as the closer. Hire me, EBU  (or maybe not as I did Lithuania dirty there:cry:)

Continue please - dirty that right up please. Although it's my drink refill song, so maybe put it later for that reason cos I don't think I'll be drinking that quickly, unless :sm: is the opener and I play a drinking game with myself to take a gulp every time Gabry Ponte thrusts both arms out at the 10 and 2 positions... xlmao

I jest, Gabry is legendary, bless his soul

San Marino sonically I think would make so much sense as an opener as it's a very much a party starter.. so you might have to be playing that very iconic sounding Gabry arm thrust drinking game, indeed 😌

I don't think opening with something as sexually charged as Malta would either
Well what do producers want from a opening and closing song? Getting people into party mood.

:es: is making people switch to another channel lol
