I feel like ripping up my SF2 predictions - I feel like anything could qualify now (except Georgia which I really do think is DOA).

I feel like we might actually qualify after tonight. Not that I care much as I've never been able to get behind Laika Party

I still need to process but yeah first of all congrats to everyone who made it and also everyone who flopped, bless their souls, bless them for all the efforts and work they did these past month xheart xheart

I'm sad that we didn't make it obviously but I mostly want to remember how proud I felt after watching Seppe's performance, it was a special moment to me, so yeah we flopped but I'm still proud xheart

It was a mother tongue night, wasn't it? Five countries with entries sung in their own language going through - plus Poland (not sure which language that was, but it did sound a bit English ). All NQ's were in English.

Nah, I think a random order, especially during this year, would ruin the whole experience. A lot of these songs shined cause they were put next to noise, that's good.

We haven't had any "producer's choice" in the semis - I agree with you, though, that the running order was great tonight - it totally worked and made most songs shine.

They can re-create that feeling without ditching most of the first-/second-half-spots in the draw.
I just don't like that that it's in Björkman's hands and having a "bad" draw in the GF is way worse than in the semi.
I would like to get the "First half" or "Second Half" only option back - that producer's choice thingy is giving too much control to "fans of the contest who play producer" have an impact on the actual results.

Yeah, Poland was mostly in Polish

:pl: :sm: :is: :se: :pt: :al: :ua: all performed in their native tongues, though.

So we baiscally got 7/10 for "mother tongue" night ;)

Is this why :uk: now needs to consider a Welsh or Scottish Gaelic language entry next year, since English language is clearly out of favour?

After tonight I am even more sure that Spain will come dead last.

I dislike the song, too - but I thought that she was VERY entertaining on stage? - I actually liked the staging? :D
+ she will be getting 7 pts from Portugal and 2 pts from the Rest of the World vote? - Maybe it's enough to surpass Germany or the UK?

Red Sebastian really found the a fitting tone to congratulate the other artists and utter his disbelief he didn't make it. I feel bad for him to not make it on his birthday - even though I heavily dislike his entry...

but then there's somehone like Fahree... I read that he blames "politics" for Azerbaijan not making it...
Ehm... hasn't he seen the other performances and hasn't he heard how Mamagama's lead vocalists sang the verses?! The head voice wasn't pleasant, either.

It's been a long time since a Welsh or Scottish person represented UK. The last one might be Jessica Garlick (Welsh) in 2002.

I think it would be interesting to see a folk or traditional entry from the UK.

Azerbaijan wasn't pleasant to look at or listen to. I say that as someone who enjoyed the charm of the music video and thought the recorded song was pleasant if unremarkable.

Fahree sounds sour. Again I thought his song last year was nice but the staging was absolutely dire and offputting.

I realise Azerbaijan doesn't have many 'easy' televotes it can pick up from friends, but reality check here needed for Fahree - Azerbaijan keep NQing because their entries aren't competitive.

Bonnie Tyler (2013) is also Welsh.

I'd forgotten that, thanks. Several Northern Irish acts have represented Ireland in recent years, but it's been an awfully long time since one represented UK I think. Clodagh Rodgers might have been the last.
