The Eurovision 2019 season is over and while there may be a little break before the 2020 season kicks off, it doesn't mean that we have to be bored and not do anything. The ESC United Forum is the heart and soul of our community and its members are diverse, with a broad taste in music and has an appreciation for all songs, not just the current bops.

So during the off-season, the members of the forum get to take part in a series of polls and votes, starting with your favorite winners, moving on to the second places, third places, last places, best entries from a specific country etc.

Only members of the forum get to vote in the poll and the results will be posted on the ESC United Youtube page which has grown a lot over the last few years. So you will be the "face" of the community so choose wisely. Over the next few months, I will post the link to the polls here. There aren't many rules, you know how it works.

1. Use the link to vote for your Top 10
2. Please make sure to list your Username, NOT your real or another fake name, otherwise your votes will not be counted
3. If we have reached the maximum number of votes or you have issues accessing the link, you can also post your top 10 in this thread or send me a PM and they will be counted as well
4. I need at least 50 votes per round. I will only open it up to our Twitter, Facebook and & Youtube Followers if we don't reach that number within the allotted time slot.
5. Please make sure to listen to all songs that are in the running, not just based on recent memory. What we want to avoid is people only voting for the recent songs. If you don't want to vote for songs that are older than 10 years, this is not the right game for you.

I hope that you will take part in these results and videos will be the official ESC United Ranking for the world to see.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aaaand we're done with the Netherlands. Your votes have been counted and the results will be posted very soon. Thanks for your votes but it's not over, it's time to vote once again.

Italy has had quite a run since their return to the contest in 2011 but they were already quite impressive even before that which includes two wins and a bunch of amazing songs. So it only makes sense to give this Big 5 the attention it truly deserves. It's time to vote for your favorite Italian entries of all times. As always, please consider ALL entries, not just the more recent ones. For your convenience, I included the recap below.

This recap only does not include 2019 but i'm certain that you are quite familiar with that one :)

Please vote in our poll, just click HERE while you can. If we don't receive enough votes, we will open it up to our YT followers to fill the remaining spots but our Forum folks will get to vote first. You can also post your votes in public here and they will be counted or just send me a PM.

I voted, weirdly no 90s or 2010s songs make my top 10. Il Volo narrowly misses out.

1.:12: 1984-Alice+Franco Battiato-I treni di Tozeur[1st/19]
2.:10: 1964-Gigliola Cinquetti-Non ho l’eta[1st/16]
3.:8: 1958-Domenico Modugno-Nel blu di pinto di blu(Volare)[1st/10]
4.:7: 1963-Emilio Pericoli-Uno per tutte[2nd/16]
5.:6: 1956-Franca Raimondi-Aprite le finestre[2nd/14]
6.:5: 1970-Gianni Morandi-Occhi di ragazza[2nd/12]
7.:4: 1975-Wess and Dori Ghezzi-Era[3rd/19]
8.:3: 1974-Gigliola Cinquetti-Si[3rd/17]

Pretty good list of the Top Dutch entries actually.
Almost all of my top 10 are in the top 30, even top 15.

12 1999 One good reason

So Marlayne is my winner. As I wrote I was quite enthusiastic about it in its year of participation. It was the first time I was crazy about a Eurovision song. I still own the CD single disc.

The Rest of my list:

10 1975 Ding-a-dong
08 1998 Hemel an aarde
07 2013 Birds
06 2019 Arcade
05 1989 Shangri-la
04 1983 Sing me a song
03 1990 Ik wil alles mit je delen
02 1993 Vrede
01 2003 One more night

:it:

:12: Jalisse - Fiumi di parole (1997)
:10: Gigliola Cinquetti - Non ho l'età (1964)
:8: Wess and Dori Ghezzi - Era (1975)
:7: Alice & Battiato - I treni di Tozeur (1984)
:6: Domenico Modugno - Nel blu, dipinto di blu (1958)
:5: Gigliola Cinquetti - Si (1974)
:4: Umberto Tozzi and Raf - Gente di mare (1987)
:3: Iva Zanicchi - Due grosse lacrime bianche (1969)
:2: Francesca Michielin - Nessun grado di separazione (2016)
:1: Massimo Ranieri - L'amore è un attimo (1971)

These rankings are quite fluid for me after the top 2. A lot good songs that just missed out that are great as well such as We'll Live It All Again, L'amore è femmina, La mia città, Aprite le finestre, Non mi avete fatto niente, Al di là, and Soldi

Thanks for another interesting voting. There are a lot of great songs in the Italian Eurovision history. I have to say that Italy is one of my favourite countries in Eurovision these days and they really take it seriously since their return. Thumbs up for that!

:12: 1997 "Fiumi di parole" [One of my favourite ESC songs ever and I wanted them or Ireland to win so badly in 1997... plus Alessandra was probably the most beautiful woman back then to have ever set foot on a ESC stage.]

:10: 1990 "Insieme:1992" [One of my favourite ESC songs ever!]

:8: 2018 "Non mi avete fatto niente" [Should have won last year!]

:7: 1984 "I treni di Tozeur"

:6: 1993 "Sole d’Europa"

:5: 1983 "Per Lucia"

:4: 1967 "Non andare più lontano" [One of the very rare pre-70s ESC songs overall, not only Italy, I'm keen on]

:3: 2012 "L'amore è femmina"

:2: 2019 "Soldi"

:1: 2015 "Grande Amore"

Just missed out: 1987, 1976, 1980, 1974

50s: 0
60s: 1
70s: 0
80s: 2
90s: 3
00s: 0
10s: 4

lol my italy ballot is even more recent biased than the netherlands one. i mostly haaaaaaaaated italy before their comeback. now italy is easily one of my favourite countries though. maybe all currently unsatisfactory eurovision countries should have a cooldown of 14 years. taylor swift - you need to calm down.mp3, sweden.

anyway,

50s: 1 (IT'S VOLARE.)
60s: 0
70s: 2
80s: 1
90s: 2
10s: 4

also just saw the winner results and am OVERJOYED that running scared was dead last even with all the recency bias of this board. and jamala was top 2 after this board became damiimville, australia in 2016! thank you so much, everyone. i forgive every other sin of that poll (rock n roll kids not being second to last, anne marie david being top 20, poor herreys being like bottom 5, what's another year being the second lowest ranked irish winner when it's probably the best one, that fucking secret garden non-song being 4th when i wouldn't give it points even if we polled just the year of 1995) for these accomplishments.

Well if it's any consolation to you I went through the experience of narrowing down my top 10 Italian entries, which felt basically the same.

i will take your word for it because you are a very dear person and i don't want to wish you a stubbed toe because otherwise i would have to. rapsodia is one of those entries i just Cannot Even. it's only not my least favourite of its year because 1992 is also the year that introduced us to our dearest and most beloved friend of all fans christer björkman, who had a very high quality entry which placed very high and that he definitely isn't overcompensating for its result by micromanaging melodifestivalen and to a lesser extent eurovision itself and vicariously living through his annointed acts.

Tumblr, mostly.
Oh yeah, Rapsodia is easily the worst Italian entry for me. Mia Martini looks as if she's about to drop dead at any second and it's very unsettling.

Thank you for all your votes. This is your last chance to vote for the best Italian entry before I open it up to the general public. Just use the link in the first post to cast your vote.

Also, my apologies for not posting the Dutch result video. I actually thought I did but for some reason must have failed to hit the actual reply button but you found it anyway :)
