It's still me, don't worry

It's just that I think that it's really weird that this song never was among the televoters' favourites, considering that they voted for the similar Bulgarian entry, and it's the kind of modern stuff that everybody are used to praise nowadays... 2 points is really harsh, I think that a little bit of country bias played a role in this flop... In any case, I hope that next year Australia steps up its game again, because they don't need to send this kind of entries.

I really agree. I actually don't understand the 2 points vs 337 points for two very similar songs, of basically the same quality (actually I think Australia is better).

But you're right, Australia needs to give this super serious, and ultra contemporary style a break, at least for one year, and give us something different. This shouldn't be a bad thing to say, but they're trying way too hard to impress, and they need to let go and give us something unique, fun and less cold. Stop trying to court the jury for one year, and make Europe fall in love with you instead.

On a positive end note though, I enjoy "Don't Come Easy" as a composition. It really has grown on me. I very almost voted for it at the final.

I still stand by the fact that it should have been a guest appearance with Guy Sebastian - they didn't win - not coming back the year after as it was agreed

DONE

no drama, no fuss

Their fans are dedicated and epic, their jury saved us from finishing under 100 points, what's not to like?
I can't wait for australia to win one day

Basically the way the juries voted made Australia seem very unlikable this year..... If it were 17-20th spot in the final and received 2 points I would say u were a bit underrated but top 10 with the juries with that song?!?!?
It wasn't even good... Hence the 2pt from the televote

this is a song of less quality compared to the first two australian entries. But he still deserved to be in the final, even though the way he sung in the semi final was just awful. The 2 points from the televote shocked me in a certain way, I thought he would get more because the melody isn't that bad after all.

Robin got all the fame, but Isaiah liked Robin's comment against Salvador's speech. He might feel like "fast food music" as well

Isn't it beautiful this Swedish-Australian love? xlove

They should put Australia automatically in the final and give them a 100 point handicap, it's so unfair they have to travel so much! Amirite?

In practice it's pretty much what's going on, and people still delude themselves that there's not an obvious bias from the juries here? EBU really want to force the idea on Australia in ESC down our throats, and now even with a bland, safe ballad that shows absolutely no emotions (good or bad) they are ranked second? Oh well...

Come on, the song wasn't that bad! It's fair that juries ranked it much higher than the audience because this has been an obvious jury favourite from the beginning because it's a ballad, sung by someone with a great voice, but I agree, the juries gave it TOO many points. Especially when you consider they didn't reward especially Finland and other ballads that much. Though Isaiah doesn't deserve all the hate, it's the juries bias that isn't fair.

I for one found his song a very bland uninspired ballad, however I don't "hate" on him, but the obvious jury bias has to be pointed out because the whole Australia thing starts to become too obvious even for former deniers.

i always try my best to be respectful of people's differences, but every time someone speaks ill of sound of silence, and specially when compared to this late-american-idol-winner-single mess of a song, i can't help but break into a thousand shards. =(

Due to these opinions, I'm getting so confused everytime I'm reading some posts, when I'm having a look at this thread tbh.

No one complained about Dami being truly helped by the juries, whereas she """"only"""" placed 4th with the televoting. It seems pretty obvious that Isaiah was granted a huge amount of points in order not to end up on the bottom 5. Thus, :au: can be considered as a successful country, even though this isn't always well-deserved when they're competing with a crappy song. 'Don't Come Easy' for instance. xshrug

2 points from the televote was maybe a bit too little, but this song really didn't deserve all the jury votes, it was very mediocre.
