Nee, nee, nee, nee
Jou niet laten gaan

Hier in de diepte hoor ik steeds maar weer je naam
Oh mijn lief wat moet ik nou
Ik zit diep en ik wil jou niet laten gaan

This is why all countries should send songs in their native language. I always thought the Dutch song was a mystical and philosophical song about the depth of our souls or any shit like that... If now you are telling me the song is about the end of love.... 🤢
What do you think about the tattoos in the music video?

In the music video, you can see her get her neck tattooed by her boyfriend and she even has his name tattooed on her arm. Then they are broken up and she is stuck with his name on her arm. Am I supposed to feel sorry for her when I see this or to get emotional? I think this only makes her look like a total moron. I'm surprised they decided to tell such a story in the music video because it makes it look like the song is just the whining of a stupid girl. What do people see in this?

The way I see it he died, hence the "lights" at the end of the video. They didn't break up, although they did have a fight before he died.

At least that's my interpretation.

How dramatic... Cant it be she is high on mushrooms and she sees lights and gets a tattoo with a name because she is high and when you are high you do weird things? It is The Netherlands we are talking about here... I learnt about mushrooms when I was living there. Mushrooms are like part of their national cuisine

Weird, I live in NL almost all my life (with the exception of some time in the US) and I never tried a mushroom. Amsterdam does not equal The Netherlands 😉

Yes but S10 is from Amsterdam... But thevideo is clear. It starts with her looking 4 mushrooms in the fridge but they are not there bc the bf has eaten them, they fight and she has to go to a 7 11 to buy more (mushrooms in NL/ Ams is like guns in US, you can buy them anywhere) she eats them and start seeing lights...

She's from Hoorn, and later moved to study in Utrecht. She never lived in Amsterdam.

What do you call people in Hoorn? Hoornies? I want to be from there it really suits me...
Just one question: are you very tall? 2 meter tall I mean.

Hoorinezen (plural, singular is Horinees)

My height is totally not relevant .

That makes sense and is indeed a "better" and somehow more satisfying explanation than a regular breakup. It even makes the name tattoo slightly less awkward, but we know how her story will continue: She will have to look for a new boyfriend although the name of her ex is written on her arm and any new guy in her life will see his name there every day. She could have the tattoo removed, but if her ex died, that might be emotionally quite upsetting for her. She could also look for a guy with the same name, but that would limit her choices severely and it would be very awkward for the new guy. I think not getting your lover's name tattooed is the most important message of that video.

Or it could be a 'Ghost' like situation and she spends the rest of her life making pottery.
Anyway this year' s eurovision is really a Festival: one telling people to die together, the boyfriend of the Dutch dying not together but on his own, the swiss crying his eyes out... Happiness everywhere...

I have to admit I never translated the lyrics because I love the song the way it is and don't want to ruin it with basic, meaningless lyrics (in case there are). So I don't know what she is singing about but I can tell you how I feel about the video.

To me it's not clear if it's about death or end of a relationship.
I have a feeling S10 is not in a good mental health. I know at least what the title means and it looks like she has dark thoughts "in the deep" of her mind.
The fridge could either stand for throwing out old things and locking in, going through a cleaning procedure.
Or she tries to get rid off things that remind her of him and tries to kill herself by freezing to death.
Then she is lightning up when she walks through the kitchen. She could be a ghost oder ready for a new realtionship (she is over him). There is a little glowing spot on her cheek at the end of the video which gets smaller and vanishes, so the process of change has finished.
The video, like in Blanche's, which is kinda similar, plays with a lot of light and shadow. The tattoo is a throwback to good times when she were happy. They were fooling around, a little childlike. The guy saws the moth flying around the light (light again - symbol for her trying to be close to him?) and so she got that tattoo which I'm not sure is the moth or a butterfly with a little golden gem(?).

Anyway, it's probably too much of interpretation and probably not "as deep" ;) as I think but anyway, I really like it. The song as well as the video.

Maybe not THE best Eurovision song of all time but it’s definitely a contender for my all time top 10. In contrary to many other songs which are only relevant during Eurovision time this is a song I will definitely listen to after Eurovision. To me this is the most contemporary Eurovision song we have this year.

What is 'contemporary'? Just because something is 'contemporary' does it mean it is good?

No, it’s just a statement. Most songs are tailored for Eurovision, yes, even your lovely Chanel. It may have a modern beat but it’s too old fashioned and Eurovision-like for many European radio stations.

I am not a Eurofan. I kinda like Eurovision but I have no fucking idea what song was Serbia 2017... As a matter of fact i dont even know which is the Serbian song this year.
I mean if i see it i recognize the song but i find it difficult to relate songs and countries.
