Re: UKRAINE 2018

They came across pretty amateur in that X-factor clip I saw.
I want more "amateurs" of such kind in the NF :D They sound better than anyone from the last NF. Of course they don't stand a chance against Katya Chilly for instance, or The Hardkiss or Pur:pur

YES they are ready for Vidbir 2018.
YT after 2 days: #2 most trending. 250k views of X Factor performance + 300k views of the audio. The press release posted in the media says how people want them to take part in ESC. So I guess they're in.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Well, yeah, I suppose there's no harm in them taking part in the NF. But they're not ready for ESC yet.

Also, from a marketing standpoint, I think the girl should go solo. I feel bad saying this, but the guy seems really unnecessary and he's kind of odd looking. I don't think he fits into the image with the kind of music they're making. Maybe he could remain as the musician/songwriter, but nothing more.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

wishlist part 5:

22) TAYANNA - probably would've been the most predictable and safest choice of 2017 but i think in a more pop genre would be more interesting (instead of just a ballad).

23) The Erised - cool group signed on with a British record label but also quite active on the Ukrainian scene. they also performed at X Factor a few years back so they at least have some relationship with STB :)

24) Dima Kostiuk - from Holos 5. He could work with Morphom as he has with some of his latest tracks.

25) KAZKA - she was on my list before her X Factor audition lol...but I think Nikitin (her producer) has big potential with this project and now they are just one step closer to getting into Vidbir.

26) ALLOISE - I really liked her in 2016 and she could bring some diversity and quality.

still hoping for 2018 return from them.... perhaps this might be the song? (or maybe a different song from the new album)

+ Yulya is not in X Factor jury anymore.
But I don't think they would release ESC song so early.

She said she wrote this song for the NF 2017:

I don't like it.
Thankfully they can try one more time next year

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Probably the 1st X Factor participant that I want to see on the NF:
https://youtu.be/0yKL585s7Ns?t=174
(their own song)

This song is great, however isn't she already signed to a label? The song was already a radio hit during the summer in Ukraine and it was added on a YT channel that I assume belongs to a label. Can signed acts enter such a talent show?

Also X-Factor looks like a poor man's version of The Voice here (atleast comparing the two Ukrainian versions against eachother), is Ukrainian language banned from the show aswell? Sure the song is in Ukrainian, but all talking from host, judges, participants is all Russian it seems. Just curious how that goes with the new language media law... (this is of course off topic, just curious).

Why can't a signed performer enter a talent show? Are there some rules abolishing this somewhere?)) Detach were signed too. Though I can't recall any major signed performers. I can't call it "a hit" too. The 6 months old audio has had only 100k views before the show (it gained 700k in a week after the show). It was on the radio but it certainly wasn't played in my city xshrug

As for judges - 1 of them answered in Ukrainian actually. Anastasia Kamenskih sometimes switches languages. Our X Factor will never be mostly in Ukrainian because they cover ex-USSR audience - mainly Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Baltic states to a lesser extent. We have participants from those countries as well. The previous winner is Armenian. We had a guy from Germany in the previous ep, they had a convo in German with 1 judge.

I loved how Andriy Danylko (Verka) acted like he didn't know them even though I think they belong to the same label, and surely he must have heard/seen them before.

I agree on the langauge though. I thought they new rule was that at least 50% of the hosts/judges had to speak Ukrainian?

The law hasn't been completely implemented yet and tv channels are trying to accommodate these changes during the next few months.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

:ua: :it: xheart Zlata performed in a duo with Andrea Bocelli and now Tayanna is going to perform together with Il Volo and another Ukrainian orchestra in October at the Sports Palace.

All the TV channels were given 1 year to adjust. The quota is gonna be counted from 7:00 till 18:00 and from 19:00 till 22:00 weekly. The show can be fully in other language but the weekly quota should be 75%.
The TV hosts who speak Ukrainian is the only requirement for the live shows.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

The Head of UA:pBC Zurab Alasania confirmed the NF 2018 on STB channel. UA:pBC bitched (and they were right) with STB about the NF 2017 quality.

They're negotiating with the EBU so STB could co-broadcast Eurovision in May together with UA:pBC (STB will pay the same amount of money). I predict that the EBU will demand from STB to join them. No annual EBU fee = no business.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

update: The EBU is positive about allowing STB to co-broadcast but only in 2018 as an exception. UA:pBC remains the sole rightsholder. The negotiations aren't over yet.

I didn't say they can't (personally I don't care), I don't know about those type of shows in Ukraine however, but in many countries (Sweden included) there are rules in most of these talent shows that signed acts aren't allowed to enter, I mean isn't the point to kind of "discover" an act? Not that I'm bothered, they can enter if they want. Well, it was top. 5 on the Ukrainian chart this summer, before the show, maybe this list is not accurate or something but from what I understand it's the most accurate (speaking of FDR chart).

I just thought there was a new law on media that atleast a certain percentage had to be in Ukrainian, for this show that's obviously not the case.

That's why Swedish Idol winner from 2010 has already released an album in 2009 with his band being signed to a rock/metal label. Robin Stjernberg also released an album with a band (with their singles being at #5 and #16 in the chart). 2016 runner-up has already been a signed performer with 2 singles.

I mean isn't the point to kind of "discover" an act?
The point is to decide the best singer there's nothing about "discover" some act. We've got a lot of has-beens at the auditions and even someone who used to sell 200k+ records. It's never about someone who's really big now.

Well, it was top. 5 on the Ukrainian chart this summer, before the show, maybe this list is not accurate or something but from what I understand it's the most accurate (speaking of FDR chart).
The only official chart is on the FDR website. Top-40charts.com is inaccurate, it lists only 20 places and it has nothing to do with FDR even though they mention FDR for some weird reason. The real FDR doesn't have an archive of their charts. Yep they finished 5th or 6th (only 1 week) in the general chart with that song but the auditions were held in May  + the whole radio promo was in 8-9 times less effective than one X Factor performance as appeared.

The law can influence pre-recorded auditions but only from the next June. It will influence the TV hosts of the live shows next year. STB's most popular evening show has already switched to 50/50 system but their production started later than X Factor after the law had been approved xshrug

While I'm not really a fan of those shows and I am not an expert of Robin's career, I think the rules in the Swedish version states "currently signed", I think the band you refer to was already dissolved and Robin not technically signed to a label when entering the talent show.

I guess could be similar case as the above, acts that had careers but currently aren't signed to any (major) labels. But the rules in Ukrainian version could of course differ.

It's the FDR I refer to, auditions in may but first shown on TV in September right? So yeah, this song had it's chart peak before the show was shown.

I see, makes sense :)
