Re: LATVIA 2016

Well almost anything would be better than this year's entry as far as I'm concerned!

There's no way MNTHA could do better than Nefelibata. :(

The problem is whatever they pick next year, it'll be difficult to get close to Aminata.

True, it's going to be very hard for anyone to top Aminata in my list, but hopefully Latvia can pull it off again!

If Aminata did well, Mntha can do well too. I still don't understand her wooden spoon at televote. She was my personal favourite.

It will be very difficult for them to score as good as Aminata did this year. I would send Markus Riva.

That's what I'd like too. Actually, I hope they understood that risky quality entries can give them good results and that they'll bear that in mind next year.

But I fear they'll do an Albania: send Suus and then a complete no-hoper the year after :(

I always respect Latvia for not falling for standard boring songs: whether they're objectively good or bad, their songs can't be labelled as "safe" imo. But with their first qualification after seven years of abysmal failures, I expect them to learn to keep their funny trash home and pursue what they began when they chose Aminata.

MNTHA wouldn't do that well with juries, since her songs aren't vocal showdowns and she actually makes an effort to have songs that can stand up on ther own, so she doesn't have enough x-factor/"starquality" if she goes with her tpical style. I think she would qualify and finish somewhere around 15-19th.

Her song this year was mesmerizing imo. I guess she could have done a "Taken By A Stranger" type of result, and she would have qualified, which is already an achievement for Latvia these days. She's got the x-factor for me, but you may be right about juries during the final.

WTH? Did that happen before? :? Well, he loved "Love Injected" but I doubt a mere ESC reporter can be trusted to find great entries of a country he's not related to in any way (even if he's not alone to do this).

I mean I can help them too, it would be the same.
