Once again, our “Expert” Panel is back for another year, as 15 members of the ESC United team have sat down to review the hopefuls that were set to represent their nations at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam!

As a quick reminder, the rules of our “Expert” Panel are simple; our team provide a score for each entry between 1 and 10, with .5 scores also possible – 1 being terrible and 10 being a perfect score and an amazing entry. Each entry will also have a video, where Matt will discuss the entry with three members of the panel and provide their rationales for their points for the song.

Time to see which song is next in our assessments…

The seventh country we are focusing on is the host nation, Netherlands, who were set to perform on home soil for the first time in forty years with Jeangu Macrooy’s “Grow” – but what did our team think of the softly-sung track?

In this video, Matt discusses the Dutch entry with Gabe, Holly and Connor below, and #YOU can see what they thought of the song!

With four of our team passing judgement above, it’s now time to see how the scores fell for Netherlands across our panel;

  • Boris 8
  • Connor 8.5
  • David 2.5
  • Fernando 3
  • Gabe 10
  • Holly 10
  • James 6
  • Matt 9.5
  • Melanie 7.5
  • Robert 6.5
  • Roy 6.5
  • Sanio 8.5
  • Sean 6.5
  • Sebastian 10
  • Stefan 5

We also asked our forum readers and members to share their votes on the song, with the Forum score being attributed as 6.46 for our host entry!

But what does this mean for our ranking? Netherlands receives an average of 7.15, after some top marks but also some low scores – but it is enough to go into second place for the moment!

    1. 🇲🇹 Malta – 7.76
    2. 🇳🇱 Netherlands – 7.15
    3. 🇨🇾 Cyprus – 6.82
    4. 🇦🇱 Albania – 6.42
    5. 🇬🇷 Greece – 6.40
    6. 🇸🇮 Slovenia – 6.01
    7. 🇱🇻 Latvia – 5.80

Malta continue to hold on to top spot, but for how long? Next up, it’s Montaigne from Australia facing the panel – so make sure to subscribe and add notifications for our YouTube channel to not miss a thing!
