Tonight in Sanremo it was Covers Night! After three nights of hearing original compositions from our 30 competitors, this evening gave them a chance to pay homage to some of their favorite songs from any time and in any language – this is a slight change from past years when artists could only choose songs from the 1960s-1990s.

Here is the full lineup of their songs and duet partners for the evening:

All three voting groups – the press, radio jury, and televoters – contributed to the night’s rankings. Their top 5 covers tonight were:

  1. Geolier, Guè, Gigi D’Alessio and Luchè – Brivido / ‘O primmo ammore / Chiagne
  2. Angelina Mango and Rome Orchestra String Quartet – La rondine
  3. Annalisa, La Rappresentante di Lista and the choir Artemia – Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
  4. Ghali and Ratchopper – Medley titled Italiano vero
  5. Alfa and Roberto Vecchioni – Sogna ragazzo sogna

Geolier was the winner of the night– this was his 2nd time in the top spot this week!

Other highlights

Early in the night, tonight’s co-host Lorella Cuccarini performed a fun musical medley with Amadeus and a surprise appearance by comedian and TV presenter Fiorello. Over on the Suzuki Stage we got to see a performance by Arisa, winner of Sanremo 2014. Tonight, she sang her Sanremo 2012 entry “La notte”, which came in second place that year. DJ Gigi D’Agostino brought the party on the Costa Smeralda with a medley of hits from across his thirty-year career.

Saturday is the final night of Sanremo, where a winner of the whole week will be announced. You can watch it all go down tomorrow night at 20:40 on Raiplay.it.
