The Romanian broadcaster (TVR) is on the track for selecting their representative for the upcoming contest in Liverpool. Last month the broadcaster started to accept submissions, which then closed a few days ago. Since then, a jury has now picked the 12 songs that will take part in the national final next year.
Selecția Națională 2023
The national final is already set to be held on the 11th of February 2023, which is already going to be a hectic day for Eurovision fans who watch every single national final, and Romania is just one of them. Unlike last year, this time it will be a straight to the point show, where no minor heats or semi-finals will take place, so from now on and until the day the final takes place, it will all be about preparing the acts for the show.
These are the 12 acts that will participate in the national final:
- Adriana Moraru – “Faralaes”
- Aledaida – “Bla Bla Bla”
- AMIA – “Puppet”
- Andrada Popa – “No time for me”
- Andreea D Folclor Orchestra – “Periniţa mea”
- Deiona – “Call on me”
- Erin Dăneţ – “Bad&cool”
- Maryliss – “Hai Vino”
- Ocean Drive – “Take you home”
- No Artist – “Statues”
- Steven Roho x Gabriella x Formaţia Albatros – “Lele”
- Theodor Andrei – “D.G.T. (Off and on)”
The national final will take place in a studio from TVR in Bucharest, where the winner will be solely decided by the public. The selection of the 12 acts was decided by a 7 member jury consisting of Sebastian Ferenţ, Laura Coroianu, Bogdan Stratulă, John Varbiu, Alin Vaida, Mihai Predescu – Head of Delegation (Romania 2023) and Remus Achim – project director of ESC 2023.
In has to be noted, that a validation period is now in order and acts that didn’t make the cut or wish to make an appeal, now have until the 19th of December to make a claim. Afterwards the final selection will remain set and songs competing in the national final will then be presented.
