This week, the German national broadcaster ARD has revealed additional details about their upcoming national selection Unser Lied für Liverpool, including clarification on the pre-selection process and opportunities for fans to participate.

Unser Lied für Liverpool will air on March 3 at 22:20, live from Cologne, on the network Das Erste. The show will be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger, who you may have seen presenting Germany’s points at Eurovision every year since 2015, or as a host of the national final in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022. Below is a clip of Schöneberger performing the opening act for Unser Lied für Israel – a comedy version of “You Let Me Walk Alone” – with Michael Schulte in 2019.

A live stream of this year’s show will be available at, and there will even be a pre-show beginning at 21:20. Further, fans will be able to view backstage videos on the Eurovision DE TikTok account before the competition begins.

Speaking of TikTok — more details on the fan selection

While the number of participants has still not yet been determined, we do know that most of them will be chosen by the ESC editorial team at NDR (Northern German Broadcasting). Late last year, TikTok applications opened, through which users could upload video auditions with the hashtag #UnserLiedFürLiverpool. A period of online voting for a chosen group of those auditions will take place from January 27 to February 3, and at least one winner from this group will earn a place in Unser Lied. The results will be announced at on February 4 at 18:00.

German Eurofans will be eager to see who will compete for the nation on March 3. After a decade of highs and lows, this Big Five underdog is overdue for a left-hand-side result at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2022, Malik Harris performed “Rockstars” in the Grand Final in Turin and placed 25th, receiving televote points from Austria, Switzerland, and Estonia.
