The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is just around the corner, but we already got the first act for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Last night, Mariam Bigvava won Ranina and the right to represent Georgia at JESC 2022 in December in Yerevan, Armenia. You can watch her performance in the Grand Final in the video below:
This year, 10 children of the age 8 – 14 years old competed in the 5th edition of Ranina, the Georgian national selection for Junior Eurovision. In the Grand Final, Mariam defeated three other children that were in the running to win the competition with an amazing performance that shows her strong voice. The other competitors were:
- Nikoloz Kharat
- Vache Ghviniashvili
- Oto Bazerashvili
“Ranina” has brought amazing joy to my life, I have never been so cheerful” – Mariam Bigvava after winning Ranina. Her Junior Eurovision song will be announced on a later date.
Mariam received the trophy from last year’s winner Niko Kajaia. He represented Georgia last year in Paris and finished 4th with his song “Let’s Count The Smiles,” earning 163 points. Georgia debuted in 2007 at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and participated every year since their debut. It’s the only country that has won the contest already three times (2008, 2011 & 2016).
