I have a question about the juries.
Who are the people in the juries, how many are there in each jury, how are they choosen, are they esc-fans also, are they music-related or just average-joes etc?

please fill me in! :)

I think they said 5 people per country.
But how those juries look like, I don't know.
I think they may choose that.

Maybe I'm in the jury of Belgium

ah, thanks. it all seems so secretly about the juries.

do this "5 person jury" interact or just give their votes separate?

don't know either.
But I think it's not allowed to announce who is in jury.
I know last year some countries did and people of EBU were not happy.

Germany actually revealed the jury members early on and the EBU wasn't too happy about that but that the same time there was no rule saying they were not allowed to do so.
It wouldn't surprise me if they actually adjusted that rule where no country can reveal the name of the jury members prior to the contest which I'm in favor for. There's always that fear of bribing, blackmailing etc.

There are 5 members per jury and they all need to be connected to the music industry somehow.....can be singers, songwriters, prodcuers etc...so it's not just average joe from the street. These are individuals considered professionals.

Spanish jury will be the same who voted in the semifinal. There is:

- A music manager
- One of TVE bosses of music and entertainment programs
- An old tv host who is very respected here and has done a lot of things (from news, to music, to realities...)
- A radio journalist
- A tv actor who has worked in musicals too (he's eurofan too, I think)

Even the juries are biased for certain countries, as we all saw during the voting.
So, the juries must be selected more meticulously and be bigger, 10 jurors and more.

I saw an interview with the German jury at the pre-show which took place in Germany so I wanted to know if the juries at any point actually see the entries live. Had they just got back to Germany or had they been in Oslo at all? It sounds sort of strange if they have to give their "professional opinion" watching a video or something.

I'm sure I heard that Nikki Sanderson was on the UK jury. Nikki is most famous for acting in long running soap opera Coronation Street.

Just so you all know how seriously the powers that be take Eurovision here in the U.K.

Jury members have to stay in their own countries, and give their votes watching live the 2nd dress rehearsal (by television, of course).

Last year the Spanish commentator said, that he would like to be in Moscow but he accepted before to be in the jury (then he noticed, he have to stay in Spain).

Thanks for clearing that up. The jury thing is starting to sound to me more like a random user's comments on Youtube, LOL. Although of course the must have good quality broadcast and can still technically judge the songs professionally, this has brought to my mind the thing that there might also be people who are musicians (like me) or singers in the TV audience and have only the televoting option, and if the jury is basically just watching TV it's not really different from that.

I agree that juries should be selected in a serious process, not just chosen by tv's. They should be more related to musical industry, as this is a commercial festival ;)
