If I was an astronaut, I'd be floating in mid-air
And a broken heart would just belong to someone else down there
I would be the centre of my lonely universe
But I'm only human, and I'm crashing down to earth

If I was an astronaut, I'd have a bird's eye view
I'd circle 'round the world and keep on coming back to you
In my floating castle, I'd rub shoulders with the stars
But I'm only human, and I'm drifting in the dark

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

If I was an astronaut, I'd speak to satellites
My navigation systems would search for other life
But I'd be up here thinking 'bout what I'd left behind
'Cause I'm only human with the real world on my mind

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

Gravity keeps pulling me down
As long as you're on the ground, I'll stick around
Stick around
I'll stick around

I'm up in space, man
Up in space, man
I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
There's nothing but space, man, no
Oh, I'm in the wrong place, man
Nothing but, nothing but, nothing but space, man
Nothing but, nothing but, nothing but space, man

I've searched around the universe
Been down some black holes
Nothing but space, man
And I want to go home

Scott Mills being our worst Eurovision ambassador - Part 3

He's once again taken to the radio today to moan about Eurofans, how we were moaning on Monday about him mocking Space Man... and then proceeds to mock Space Man some more.

He also focused on the bit where they went on Finnish radio, rather than the bit later where he said "I don't know why we bother with Eurovision, we're never going to win".

Classic bantz.

Get him far away from Eurovision, never again.

Do you know that alcoholism is an illness? Very bad of you to make fun of such a tragic situation...

Yeah and you constantly post about gay saunas but make homophobic comments about Italy and Uk

actually enjoy your posts so only amor, afición and gusto from me to you xlove

I am a homophobic gay person who goes to gay saunas... But I am curious what exactly are my 'homophobic' comments?? And are my 'homophobic' remarks just restricted to Italy and Uk? Maybe I am a Uk-Italy homophobe?

He's the worst. But this is clearly the BBC theme for hosting. Graham Norton - although never specifically being derogatory - still does everything with a very sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek in the final. Heck, the BBC coverage of the Semi-finals even cuts away from the official interval acts and host interludes to give us insightful interviews that are basically just a vessel for the hosts' mocking tones. It's the UK way sadly, and Scott Mills is just the very tip of a very muddy and disillusioned iceberg that needs broken up and rebuilt.

Scott Mills looks down on Eurovision fans and the contest, so why doesn't he walk away and give the commentary gig to someone who actually gets Eurovision, and would do a much better job than he does. He's probably paranoid he's going to be sacked from Radio 1 anyday now because he's getting too old for the channel.

The entry is fine, but I don't see how people can consider it competitive in 2022...

I think it's down to the potential for a pretty sensational live performance, I mean it's a difficult vocal but Sam can sing - if he pulls if off, the juries will lap it up.

I also think this is easily in the top 15 of songs this year, it's also very British and nostalgic but without being dated - so, unless the live performance is a mess (which knowing the BBC, it could be) this deserves top 10.

Since we discussed The Wanted as a "potential name to represent the UK" in this thread, I wanted to post this:

Unfortunately, Tom Parker has died at 33 :(
I didn´t see this coming since media outlets claimed that his overall conditions improved and the band even toured this month. A week ago he even joined the band on stage :(

Devastating news. I loved their first two albums and his poor wife and kids :(

Yeah he wasn't at the first night in Glasgow for sure because he had to continue treatment at a specialist cancer clinic in Spain, but it's such a devastating thing to happen for his wife, his little kids and his bandmates who were all so close.

Taken far too young 😭

Aaaaannnd, back to Sam and :uk:

Where else is Sam planning on touring in Europe? Great to hear his song getting radio play in Sweden as well xup

Isnt promo a waste of time and resources nowdays? We live in the age of social media, its not 2007 anymore. None of the recent winners did any kind of promo
They should focus on the staging, only 1 month left for the rehearsals, days will fly

Since TaP is running it, you've got to assume TV/radio promos are as much for Sam Ryder's fledgling music career as it is UK promotion for Eurovision. TaP's approach is definitely about using Eurovision as a platform for Sam a la Maneskin (and showing the potential of doing Eurovision for future British entrants), and that would include promos around Europe as part of that strategy.

Personally, promos are useful... as long as the song is good. Jade Ewen and Blue went on fairly extensive tours and got a good result out of it. Yeah social media is more a thing now, but Twitter is mostly confined to a Eurovision bubble - you've got to reach people outside the bubble too, and a promo tour is great for that.

Besides, Sam has been in the UK all week anyway, rehearsing and probably finalising staging and such. He's literally only been to Bulgaria so far, and he was there mainly to do his on-tape performance, the TV and radio appearances were a bonus.

Did I not read that he went to Switzerland as well? I definitely think it is a useful tool to getting the name out there and showing a keen interest in overseas promotion can definitely raise the artist's profile outside of the Eurovision bubble. But of course social media plays it's role as well - he has that pretty well sewn up on TikTok at least.
