I know. But is there a word from an official? Wanna hear it from UA:pBC first.

I can't find any single reason to justify our participation in JESC now after senior Eurovision this year. The EBU showed themselves in whole "glory" while ordering our government to change our national safety for Russia in 2017, fining us for nothing and then the juries boycotting us in 2018. I don't believe that JESC would be fair this year + kids shouldn't be exposed to corrupt political wars. And we shouldn't pay the EBU for their attacks on us. If ESC next year won't change maybe we should stay for a year or 2 to see if it's still biased and then withdraw from the EBU as well or keep going because of televoters, whatever :D

What other decision is possible when there is no money?
UA:pBC is funded as usual... just like last year, even better than 2 years ago ;)
If they want all money at once from the government it doesn't mean they have no money, no matter what they say

No money for JESC because EBU are assholes is a totally different reason. Now knowing everything that I know I feel sad that we didn't withdraw last year.

ps. UA:pBC president didn't even say anything on his FB page, kinda shows his interest in JESC
The show's ratings are tragic here, what's the point in paying near the same ESC fee for such contest?

Voice. The Kids is 25 times more popular than JESC but it's been already said that 1+1 channel doesn't want to pay for co-hosting (even though they're huge) unlike STB channel which co-funds the senior Eurovision.

It's not surprising at all if people don't care about the contest, the songs in the NF have sucked badly for a couple of years now. I wonder what happened after 2012 and 2013, it was going well back then and the entries were good. Since 2015 it's been pretty hopeless even though last year was a bit better - and the result was better too.

According to ESC+, the press contact of the channel said this though: “It’s a pity that Ukraine won’t take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. In case financial situation changes of course we shall try to revise our participation in JESC 2018.”

^ What does NF have in common with the actual event's TV ratings? The senior Eurovision proves that it doesn't matter at all.
Well, no sucky NFs from now - celebrate! (I will, 4sure)

Well, if you already have weak songs in the NF, why would anyone be so interested in the main event when your country can't do well?

I don't celebrate, I think it's a shame they are out. I assumed that the 7th place last year would have caused there be more interest in the contest again and therefore better songs as well - but now that won't happen.

The NF production sucked really bad. The songs weren't more horrendous than in any other's NF tbh. They all suck. I followed the main event simply because of visuals and juicy gossip from delegations behind the stage.

It doesn't depend of the NF or place. Ordinary viewer doesn't give a 2 shits. They would rather watch "The Voice. Kids" with better performances than JESC itself.

That homophobe should "suffer" eternally

I beg to differ, the Belarussian NF certainly did not suck last year. They had (at least) two songs to win the whole thing.

JESC could be as big as Voice Kids is in many countries. EBU just can't sell it to people very well.

The EBU prolonged our payment deadline until autumn.

UA:pBC will hold the tragic online-NF to save money.

What a joy for a kid's parents to give away everything they have for this trip and to be pawned in the end. We will never win no matter whom we send. If another broadcaster won't join forces this will be a predicted outcome in quality and all of us will sponsor this flop xfacepalm
UA:pBC should have saved money for ESC 2019.
