Eurovision Latin America has been announced for 2023, produced by the same team as the American and Canadian versions:

The Eurovision Song Contest is heading for Latin America, as former producers of the event are on the hunt for a Host City in one of the countries with the biggest appetite for the original show.

In a press release earlier today, it was announced that Eurovision Song Contest Latin America will be produced by Voxovation’s Christer Björkman, Anders Lenhoff, Ola Melzig, Peter Settman and Greg Lipstone, the producers of American Song Contest

OIC. Failure bound to happen. Really hate that this team got the rights to use the name and using it trying to create a worldwide franchise that just doesn't make sense. They should've just called it Melodifestival xxx instead. Would have been less misleading.

Yes, ASC and what we have heard of Eurovision Canada are definitely closer to Melodifestivalen than ESC, although I guess the Eurovision brand has more international recognition which is why they are using it.

Chilean media has reported that ten countries have confirmed their participation in the Eurovision Latin America with a goal of 15 countries participating in the contest’s first edition.

Four countries are in the running to be the first host nation of the contest, at this time only Chile is known to be in the running as a host.

March 31 is the deadline to define the project.

Selections to determine each of the participating countries representatives would be scheduled to take place between August and September.

I think this is done. ESC by itself has be happen when they survive the ongoing crisis with the EBU. Not the best time to expand international competitions globally. The ASC also showed that it doesn't necessarily work with the involved swedes that wanted to turn it into a franchise.
