Does anyone have a reliable source for right-wing politicians supporting :il: voting? Like any article or something? I’m just interested, want to send it to a friend…

Until the end I had hopes they would come

Until the end I had hopes they would hop on stage and Céline would reveal herself. :(
I watched on BBC and Graham Norton kept saying that he'd heard Celine was in Basel and that she'd be appearing. Never materialised obviously!

I see their point. Why would big names want to enter ESC if Israel is almost guaranteed to sweep the televoting no matter what they send? We're currently relying on a few juries to ward against a political Israel victory, and it's uncomfortable and not sustainable IMO.

:at: non bubble-comments on :il: are still very positive… I‘m wondering how many people need to die to be more critical…

I hope many others will follow. The more the merrier: two or three complaining delegations are a thing, 15 or 20 are already something else. In the first case, EBU will probably do nothing, but if the delegations demanding a change are way more than that, maybe, and I said maybe, EBU will evaluate to be back to the table, finally listening to their concerns.

I feel like any critical view on :il: is called antisemitism in :at: and :de:

I was surprised that our former president Heinz Fischer has said that we need to be more critical a few days ago… it resulted in a huge backlash from :il: organizations in :at:.

I've entered some of the 2025 result data into excel and done a bit of analysis.

First off is the tele vote data.

Here we have:

Entry/Televote Position/Televote Points - self explanatory!

Mean - this is the average ranking that the televote across all voting nations gave to an entry

Mean position - this is a league table of the mean positions

Position difference - what is the difference in position when we compare the actual competition position result with the mean position? Differences start to appear because the ESC system only gives points to the high positions from a country's televote. The mean position takes account of ALL positions. We could argue it would be a more honest and democratic method.

Std Dev - this is a measure of the standard deviation across national televotes for an entry. A LOW figure indicates that televotes generally agree with the ranking of an entry e.g. UK has the lowest figure of 2.4 indicating that televoters agreed with its bottomish ranking. In contrast HIGH standard deviation indicates that the televoting is very mixed e.g. Greece. High standard deviation can benefit countries in the middle area due to the current ESC points system. Hence Greece's ranking is arguably unfairly high.

Average SD - This is a rough indicator of just how much variance there is within the total televote. When I post the corresponding data table for jury voting then we will see a much different score for this aspect. Anyone want to guess if this will be higher or lower?

We can thank the mustached painter for this unfortunate situation

By the way, I'd really be grateful if someone would tell me how to insert an actual image into the posting. This should be so simple! All I try doesn't work, and I have to revert to a link.

By the way, I followed Matt's live yesterday. A lot of people on chat thought of a demoscopic jury vote to add to the actual system. We experimented it in Sanremo: though I think this would work way better in Eurovision than Sanremo, I think it will also add more controversies if for some reasons the demoscopic will overrule the standard televote in the final votings.

Is there a way the EBU could 'bring the fans more into the decision making fold', so to speak? Like have a working group of fans or something during the year to make suggestions, give feedback?

I feel like the 2025 jury vote all in all was pretty much a vote on vocals. Like they rewarded :mt: and :uk: with questionable songs but decent vocals. Also :at: had good vocals. Also :gr: and :lv:. I feel like they did not take song and staging that much into consideration.

Well on the other side they also gave :ee: high points lol

As for the Netherlands, radical right-wing politician Geert Wilders (PVV) and right-wing populist Caroline van der Plas (BBB) expressed their support during the final.

I use postimages.org and then copy their "Direct Link" URL that is provided.

You can then insert that directly into a post here by using the image button in the toolbar or adding the BBcode tags
after the direct image URL.

A portuguese magazine, Blitz, reported that RTP is "preparing it's official position" regarding the televote result.
Unsure what that means and what RTP's position will actually be.

Edit: It was the producer of the portuguese nf that said that "RTP was preparing it's official position", but the broadcaster meanwhile said that his words where misinterpreted and that the position of RTP regarding the televote they added that it "the sole responsability" of EBU and that it's them that hire the phone operators in each country. So, as I expected, RTP will keep it's head down regarding this matter.
