My review of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 Second Semi-Final is now available on my blog, 24 hours later than expected or wanted. Sorry for the delay again. When reading the main part, read it as if you had seen it during the voting window. This includes my desired qualifiers, predicted qualifiers and the actual qualifiers, and my points of view on the qualifiers.

So, I rewatched Louanes performance to see if I can see what others see but... no. Holding out that hourglass at the start is so lame. Kinda "A joke is not funny if you have to explain it". For whatever reason she lies there like "draw me like one of your french girls"... and then she throws her arms up at some points in such an unnatural way. And that is not even talking about the explosive diarrhea. And I still do not think she hits the "Maman"'s right.

Louane is lovely, and it is super impressive that she can sing despite all that "Sand" going everywhere. If she wins, I could live with it only because she seems So sweet. And because the lyrics are genuinely moving (I do not actually think the staging really conveys their meaning either, btw.) But I can not see this doing that well with the public. If this wins, it's by jury landslide IMO.
As I said before, I don’t like the song at all. But the staging is well done and she sells the whole package very well, she’s good at connecting with the camera/ audience.

This would be no winning performance in stronger years but maybe this year it’s somehow enough?

See, I simply disagree that the staging is well done. Somehow they have her do too much and still nothing is happening. The story is told in the first 30 seconds, and than it just... continues on, I guess.

Louane is great and she sells it well (mostly), but overall it's not clicking for me. And I somewhat like the song (except for these "maman"s, which she never really hits anyway).

Albania will get 400 points in televoting and smashes everyone.

I know, it's not going to happen, but a man can dream. That said: televotes are not always predictable so a scenario like this is not completely impossible.

So in the end Sweden wins and the UK comes last.

Well, Thea who wrote the Austrian song could also be a factor for some here, or am I mistaken here?
Well, not so many people know about Thea.
Serbians just love :gr: music

What do we think about the Austrian televote score?

I think we are underestimating France' chances of winning. If they are not too far behind Austria in the juries then they could easily do it

I swear this year is so unpredictable and luckily not a two-horse race. I hope the jury don't unbalance the results too much in their favour and ruin the suspense. I'm leaning more and more towards a Finland televote win. Hopefully Albania does a staggering result but i'm not optimistic about its chances with these westernized juries. Italy and Switzerland are well poisoned to be jury faves while Poland or Estonia can have the biggest jumps in the televoting announcement.

Right now, i'd bet on Sweden to be the compromise winner. Like being 2nd with the televote and 3rd with the juries. Not far-fetched.

Anyway, here's for a wonderful and fun night!
