Well, will there be a 2026 for Czechia in the ESC? Who knows? (besides the ONE)
Andrej and gang have ruled 2017-2021, so even during our recent ESC-years. Of course, the situation is a bit more tense now. Including the efforts to "seize" Czech TV a bit more. We shall see.For non-Czechs - the director of ČT was sacked recently, new one will be elected in June - our participation might depend on who gets chosen.
We also have an election coming up in October, but the incoming populist government won't be formed until the end of the year - and since Eurovision participation deadline is before that, they probably won't be able to influence it.
Well, the broadcaster will have a new boss and we will most likely have a new government (populist), thus very hard to tell. I would not really count on a national final. So if we participate, it will most likely by like this year, though with less boastingEach year for the last few years there has been fear in the community that Czechia will pull out (like due to poor ratings and NQs). The same will probably happen in 2026 before they announce
In Czechia no one really cares about the ESC. It will simply be a rather budgetary decision. I don´t think that Czechia will give similar reasons like Hungary. But we have to be aware that the ESC has NOT a good standing in Czechia. Just today i read an article berating the Czech TV for spending money on such a "oddity" and "kitschy bizarre" "where music is not in focus anymore" rather than on educational programmes as a public broadcaster should. The ESC was btw not the only show of its kind criticized. Is it generally the case that populist governments tend not to like their countries participating in ESC unless they can turn it to their advantage?
Maybe any Slovak might want to add a comment as wellIn Czechia no one really cares about the ESC. It will simply be a rather budgetary decision. I hope the other Czechs here add their thoughts.![]()
Sure. But i honestly consider Slovakia lost for the ESC right now. Ironically, Czechs NOW laugh at the Slovak government but this might turn a bit sour after the elections. However, Babis, no matter what a douchebag he is, is still not Fico, despite being ethnically Slovak too.Maybe any Slovak might want to add a comment as well![]()
Delilah i liked better tbh. I am not agains comebacks but rarely does this magic work. So i would personally prefer a different but with his dedication and creativity.Mikolas comeback? Wouldn't mind it.
Well he had a few interesting and different songs recently. That song is just his latest release. Yes I'm also a bit sceptical about comebacks sometimes but I'd say in his case there were already 7 years between his participation and now, so quite some time.. And it seems like he's interested in many styles so he could also bring something totally different to Eurovision compared to Lie To Me.Delilah i liked better tbh.
