Today it was :cz: turn at the ESC kompakt songchecks 2025.

The verdict of the bloggers:

Benny - I really liked the acoustic version of "Kiss Kiss Goodbye," the actual studio mix was a bit too much of everything for me though. It's a wild mix of styles that lacks a common thread. The dance break completely throws me off. But ADONX is a great performer, and I expect the live performance will significantly enhance the entry. :4:

Chris - Definitely a favorite, especially if it's a close race between several songs. While the dance break seems out of place in the studio version, it leads to excitement in the live version. :10:

Giulia - It´s a pity. The version from the Maltese preliminary round is so great. Adonxs's outstanding voice shines through in this version, and it keeps you captivated while listening. Plus, the song has such a buildup of tension. The real version is more of a generic pop ballad that doesn't really grab me. :5:

Laureen - The award for the most needless dance break of the year goes to... Adonxs. I really like the song itself, but I just don´'t understand what the point of this dance routine is. Because of that I like the acoustic version from the Maltese preliminary round much more. :6:

Rick - Nothing sounds like this song this year. ADONXS brings soulful blues influences to the competition, but thanks to pop elements, they're truly catchy and can appeal to a broad audience. I also like the song's theme, but to really rank high, the staging has to be extremely good. There's something missing from the pure studio version of the song. I'll be generous and give it: :7:

The points of the other bloggers:

Berenike - :4: Danio - :7: Douze Points - :5: Manu - :8: Max - :7: Peter - :5:

My favorite so far. Only wish he would sing hard and loud at the end.

Very surprising by Czhechia this. Well done.

I wish Czechia would have gone for the look and feel of the music video.

Right now I'm getting Siegfried and Roy vibes and I'm not liking that.

What an hideous outfit, even worse than in the video. Still think he will qualify, though.

The outfit designer has worked with big names like Beyoncé or Adele, so I hope they have enough judgement and everything comes together nicely once we see the whole staging with movements, LED screens and cameras - because I'm not the biggest fan of the outfit either (but I'm also not the right one to judge, since 80% of my clothes are plain and mostly black, so anything which is "in your face" makes me automatically uncomfortable :ROFLMAO: ). It's very ADONXS, though, and it's one of the reasons together with his great voice, why he's so popuplar here in CZ/SK. It would be a pity if it was the outfits that put viewers off supporting Adam - since after a few years where the main concern with our performers were the vocals, we finally don't have to worry about that at all. Our staging is still created by the same team as in 2022-2024, who I think did a good job every year, so this makes me a little less worried and hopeful they'll manage to do a good job again

That is so true actually haha.

The music video style is not extremely far away from the staging style though. I don’t agree that it needs to be more like the music video. I wanted a more classy looking staging but I guess that’s not really his personality. After all he should do what he likes the most though…

Whoever did that styling including the makeup needs to be shot.
I still think it's qualifying and then coming maybe midtable in the final.
It’s not the best and doesn’t increase his chances but we’ve seen worse…

Still think he will be top 10.

Once again, classic Eurovision pop and I am digging it personally. I believe it will qualify without any problems.

6 points.

I just realized I hadn't given this song a vote. It's probably because it was released so late - with that unofficial version being the only one available for a long time.

It's one of the hardest songs for me to assess this year. Many things are done well in this song. Still, I don't totally connect with it - maybe it's because it's too theatrical and quite predictable at the same time.

So it's only a 4 from me, but it's the best among the songs I've given 4's. It could jump to 6 or 7 if the performance is really good in the semi.

Well, for the beginning, let´s just focus on the Q, shall we.
Not really impressed by our entry, but again, compared to the others i heard yesterday, it is indeed in the upper part of my personal taste scale.

I cannot shake the feeling that, after the disastrous press and audience polls, the bill for my awesome semi 1 results will come due in the form of a Czech Republic NQ. I really hope not, though, and to that end, I'll be powervoting for ADONXS tomorrow--my current plan is to give out 8 juicy votes to :cz:. Just once I would like to truly enjoy a Czech entry that lights up the scoreboard (or not enjoy one that doesn't), and there's still a good deal of hope that this is the one.

After watching some of the phone footage and reading all the reviews from the press and ordinary people in the arena, it's starting to become clearer that we might have quickly gone from a sure Q to a pretty likely NQ.

Staging spoilers

The song is not among my favourite Czech entries (I rank We Are Domi, Vesna and Lake Malawi higher), but still think it is nice mid/above-average entry, decent enough to Q. Most ppl who have seen it describe the staging as pretty uninspired and this song needed something more to elevate it a bit higher from the "mid" range. So the great team behind our previous 3 stagings might have gotten the staging wrong this year. Still hope it all comes together fine in the evening, because otherwise it would be the most disappointing NQ in our ESC history, given ADONXS not utilizing his potential to the fullest at an event he was dreaming about most of his life....and the original expectations of the delegation and Czech and Slovak ESC fans.

I do consider the vocals and the song decent to Q. Of course, with the lack of juries, it is a bit harder to predict, how much the audience will attach to it.
Somehow i have the feeling, that the Czech delegation thought, we take a good vocalist, a gay on top of that, and this together will be enough for securing a Top 5 spot, after all, it worked with Switzerland and NEtherlands.
It is simply chasing trends, not setting them.

I think the main problem with Kiss Kiss Goodbye is, that it's a very indecisive package. We have a classy bond-esque song performed by a talented singer who also likes to dance. I’d rather lean into the classy song than serve flamboyant banger vibes.

Although I love the dancebreak it makes that indecisiveness so obvious. I think Adonxs should have chosen an uptempo banger to beginn with.
